ATHLETES OF THE MONTH

Ted Plimpton

Rower

Walt Plimpton

Basketball Player

These two brothers, Walt and Ted Plimpton, stand at an average height of 6’6 and are absolute beasts in the gym. Not only are they getting stronger day to day (at a rate that defies science), but their work ethic impresses us each day they walk into our facility.

Both boys attend the Lawrenceville School.

Ted is on the crew team and is 5 seconds from breaking their school record in a 2k test. Right now, he is entering his senior year and rowing 2000m at an astounding time of 6 min and 8 seconds. Not surprising that he has drawn interest from every Ivy League School. To say he has options would be an understatement.

Walt is entering his sophomore year and is a standout player on the basketball team. As he continues his hard work on and off the court, we know for sure that doors will continue to open for this young man.

Both young men are absolute gentleman who have their priorities straight therefore their futures look very bright. Whether it be in their sport of choice, the classroom or as an overall human being, they set a great example for their peers and younger student athletes.

We could not be prouder to call these two brothers our own and we are super excited to watch their journey through life. Congrats guys, KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!

OUR ATHLETES

How old is “old enough” to start strength training?

Children can start strength training as early as 7 or 8 years old, provided they have the maturity to follow instructions and maintain proper form. At this age, strength training should focus on basic bodyweight exercises like push-ups, pull-ups, squats, and lunges. The emphasis should be on technique, safety, and developing a positive attitude towards exercise rather than lifting heavy weights.

As children grow older and become more experienced, they can gradually incorporate resistance bands, light weights, and more structured strength training routines. It's important that strength training for children is supervised by a qualified coach or trainer who can ensure proper technique and prevent injury.

The key is to keep the workouts fun and appropriate for their age and developmental stage.
