This is just a friendly reminder of our policies and procedures regarding makeups and cancellations.
If you have any questions, please call.

1. Lesson Makeups: Our policy regarding makeups for lessons are like this. If you need to miss a lesson, we require 24 hours notice.

If you give us less than 24 hours, we don't give a makeup lesson.

This has multiple purposes:

1. Our teachers all have very full schedules. It's difficult to fit extra lessons into their schedules.

2. If you don't let us know in advance, we can't always avoid that teacher showing up for that lesson and therefore getting paid for it.

If we cancel or need to move a lesson because of sickness or conflict, we owe you a lesson. We will do our best to work with you to find a time that will work to make this happen.  It might not happen in the same week or even month (hopefully not too far down the line), but it will happen.

For all scheduling issues, please email us at

pdxscheduling@schoolofrock.com or call the office at 503.231.2945.

2. Time Off: If you are leaving for a month or even a few weeks, let us know as soon as possible.  If you are missing anything more than a week in one month, we can figure out a way to double up lessons to make the lessons all average out. If you need to take a full month off, we require 30 days notice to cancel billing on your account. This 30 day notice needs to be in writing with your signature on it for filing purposes. Without a 30 day notice for a billing cancellation, you will be prorated for the following month to 30 days after notification. In some instances, this may equal a full month.

All cancellation forms should be brought in to the school and given to Jon Sharpy or the front desk. In instances where it is not given to Jon, a follow up email to jsharpy@schoolofrock.com is recommended but not required.

3. Cancellations: All cancellations in billing for any enrollment (performance program, lessons +, additional instrument lessons, etc.) require 30 days notice. The reason for this is so we can appropriately schedule our instructors time so they have no gaps in their schedule, and so we can effectively cancel billing.

The same as the Time Off request, the cancellation needs to be in writing with your signature. With out a 30 day notice for a billing cancellation, you will be prorated for the following month to 30 days after notification. In some instances, this will equal a full month tuition.

All cancellation forms should be brought in to the school and given to Jon Sharpy or the front desk. In instances where it is not given to Jon, a follow up email to jsharpy@schoolofrock.com is recommended but not required.

I really appreciate everything that this community supports.  We are honored here at the Portland School of Rock to be able to teach your kids what we love.

This set of policies is an effort to make sure that our organization and management of office duties is clear and concise for you, the customer.

Hopefully, this clarification of procedures helps to make sure that we all can spend our time focusing on that shared love of music.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to email me at jsharpy@schoolofrock.com or come in to the school when I am here (Tuesday-Friday: noon-9 and Saturday 10-6).

Thanks for inspiring us with your kid's presence.

We all have the best jobs in the world because of them.
