Celebrating artists at the 2025 Student Photography Contest Reception

On Tuesday, we were fortunate to honor hundreds of talented students and teachers from across Kane County, alongside their families and friends, as we capped off our annual Student Photography Contest.

It was a remarkable evening as guests enjoyed a variety of images that spoke to the creativity and imagination of our high school students. We received record number of submissions, with over 2,700 entries from 17 schools across our nine-week competition. It has truly been a joy to look through each one.

Students responded to our weekly themes, as they always do, by incorporating their families, friends, schools, communities, and anything else that may have inspired them. This event would not have been possible without their creative eye, and they should take pride in what they have produced.

Congratulations also to our nine Weekly Winners that were recognized:

"March" for a cause with winter clothing donations

Do you have winter coats, hats, or gloves collecting dust in the closet? You may have heard of Maddie's Mitten March, a local non-profit organization with a mission to collect and directly distribute these types of items to people in need.

Maddie Bozik, North Aurora native and daughter of our longtime Facilities Coordinator, Mark Bozik, started the Mitten March when she was ten years old. Initially, she wanted to kickstart a mitten drive to help her classmates that had no gloves during the cold weather months. Fast-forward to today, and Maddie's mission still goes strong!

You can find a donation box in the first floor lobby of our office, located at 28 North 1st St., Geneva, as well as these locations:

  • Kane County Government Center – Building A: 719 S. Batavia Ave., Geneva
  • Kane County Clerk’s Office – Building B: 719 S. Batavia Ave., Geneva
  • Kane County Health Department: 1240 N. Highland Ave., Aurora
  • Elgin Township Offices: 729 S. McLean Blvd., Suite 200, Elgin
