WEEK OF DECEMBER 4, 2024

As we move past Thanksgiving and approach holiday celebrations throughout this month, we hope you have been afforded some time with family and friends to relax, and that your transition back from break has been a smooth one.

Like you, staff at the ROE are preparing for our own get-togethers and memorable events. Our Cabinet is currently in Orlando, Fla. at the 2024 Association of Educational Service Agencies National Conference. This is the largest annual gathering of offices like our own as we exchange ideas and talk through our challenges as well as opportunities to serve our communities through the next year.

Today, our own Phil Morris sat in on a panel with the Learning Technology Center of Illinois and shared how educational service agencies can assist their school districts with rolling out impactful technology initiatives. On Thursday, we will present how we champion educational staff through our annual Educator of the Year banquet while encouraging and guiding other offices to provide the same experience for those they serve.

We are thrilled to be able to share these experiences that many of you have contributed to making special, and we are eager to continue learning and celebrating as the month continues.

As the Scripps National Spelling Bee celebrates its 100th year, the Kane County ROE is proud to once again be a regional partner. For a century, the Bee has inspired a love of learning for children, and your students can be a part of this milestone event.

There is still time to register your school to conduct a building-level spelling bee, with winners advancing to regional semifinals, then the Kane County Regional Bee, hosted by the ROE. One participant from that competition will go on to represent Kane County at the national level!

Once a school is registered, you will receive all materials needed to organize classroom and school-wide spelling bees. Click below to learn more, begin the enrollment process, and find out if the next champion could 'bee' in your classroom

Have you ever searched for a file in Google Drive, only to not quite be sure in what folder, or drive, it actually exists? Perhaps it's somewhere that a colleague cannot access for a joint project?

There is a method to the process of keeping your drives and resources in order, and "shared drives" can ensure that everyone can access necessary files in real time. Phil Morris is back to show you how to do just that!
