SEPTEMBER 10, 2025

The work that we're doing as an ROE shows that we're in this for the students. That is the most important thing, and we just want to continue to make (that work) better.

John K. Jonak, Regional Superintendent

In July, the Kane County ROE welcomed new leadership in Regional Superintendent John K. Jonak and Assistant Regional Superintendent Katie Algrim. It has been a busy time since this transition, filled with new connections with students, school staff, and community members.

We wanted to share some of these moments from the past couple months, plus a glimpse into John's journey through education and as a Kane County community member. Additionally, we want to reinforce our commitment to you, not just as a provider of services, but an ally to Kane County schools.

Navigate the Illinois Online Academy with new resources

We get it, it can be tough to find time for professional development early in the school year. This is why the Illinois Online Academy is a proven, viable resource to help with your personal goals, even if time is limited. This catalog is here for you, when you need it, with a wide scope of options to fit your schedule and needs.

With on-demand courses, administrator academies, subscription boxes, and microlearning platforms, you can choose from hundreds of options. The flyer linked below can help you see and click through a breakdown of what we offer based on the format that best fits your needs.

The Kane County Student Photography Contest has begun!

Submissions are in for our Week 1 theme, Architecture, to kick off this competition for all Kane County High School students. With nearly 350 submissions, the talent is already on display, and we are enjoying seeing our communities, literally, through the eyes of these participants.

We will reveal our Top 10 selections here and through our social media channels every Thursday, with the contest concluding the week of November 3, 2025. If you are still interested in participating, you can contact Kourtney Lipps at klipps@kaneroe.org.

Applications are open for KCT Credit Union Mini-Grant

Do you know an educator in need of some additional classroom resources? Our office, together with the KCT Credit Union, forms the Kane Excellence in Education Partnership to offer grants of up to $1000 for educational materials and tools, field trips, room decor, technology, and other programs.

Any public or private school administrator or PreK-12 educator in Kane County is eligible to apply. Click below to submit your application by October 17.
