JULY 30, 2025

A Message from Regional Superintendent, John K. Jonak

This summer, our team at the Kane County ROE has been hard at work so that we can continue our commitment to serving and supporting educators and students this school year. We've worked with districts to provide occupancy for numerous construction projects, delivered academies and workshops, reignited our networking meetings with district leadership, and are now preparing for school supply giveaways and other back-to-school events. As we traverse into the school year, we hope the resources below and those detailed on our website can lend a hand to you or someone you know.

The end of July is a unique time on the calendar, knowing all that lies ahead. The start of the school year brings excitement, but absolutely carries new responsibilities and challenges as well. The coming weeks are your time to begin building those connections with students.

Know that the team at the ROE is behind you, forever a partner in the important work that you do, and we are here to serve if you need us. We wish you an outstanding start to the 2025-26 school year!

John K. Jonak

Regional Superintendent

Still need PD hours to renew your license?

The Illinois State Board of Education offers a grace period between June 30 - August 30 for educators who need more time to complete PD hours before they renew their license.

If you have PD or Administrator Academy credits to collect, there are multiple options available through the Illinois Online Academy, including two brand new asynchronous courses, listed below!

This practical course designed by our Instructional Coach, Faye Licari, is for educators and school leaders who want to strengthen student attendance and engagement.

Participants will explore the scope of chronic absenteeism in Illinois, learn to analyze attendance data, identify root causes, and implement tiered, research-based strategies.

The course empowers school teams to create a culture where every student is supported and every day matters.

Based on the influential book by Katie Egan Cunningham, Jan Burkins, and Kari Yates, this course, designed by Elsa Glover, an Instructional Coach at the Kane County ROE, offers a comprehensive exploration of the “six shifts” needed to embrace science and balance in the literacy classroom for grades 3-5.

Participants will learn about the common misunderstandings as well as recommendations within each shift.

In addition, participants will make connections to the work within their classrooms and the Illinois Comprehensive Literacy Plan as they explore resources and teaching videos.

Asynchronous AA's are live!

All asynchronous Administrator Academy options are also now available once again at the Illinois Online Academy. Topics range from combatting educator burnout, meeting and presentation tips, restorative practices, and more.
