Thank you for your support and understanding as we come to the close of a year that none of us will ever forget. Thank you for supporting your students and instilling in them the resilience and grace needed to finish out the year with positivity. The District Office wishes you and your students all the best over the summer.

As you wind down the last day of school, here are some brief updates, reminders, and resources. And please remember that we will communicate with you throughout the summer about the reopening of school on August 20.

Summer Resources
We are pleased to offer summer options for in-person, socially-distanced summer camps at our MPCSD sites. Please visit our Summer Resources webpage for details. We feature childcare through our own Early Learning Center or Newton Center Inc, plus Steve & Kate's Camp and Math Enrichment. More programs will be added as they are confirmed. We hope to see your students on campus this summer!

Parent Survey
If one parent from your family has not yet completed our reopening Parent Input Form #2 , you may do so until Monday morning, June 15 at 8:00 a.m.. Please answer to the best of your knowledge at this time, but know that your answers are not binding for you. There will be more surveys over the summer.

School Board
On June 11, the MPCSD School Board voted to approve the COVID-19 Response Team's recommendation to plan for opening school on August 20 based on an alternating week model. The team will now get to work planning the details.

The Board will meet frequently over the summer to continue hearing updates from staff on the reopening planning. Meetings are open to the public and will be held over Zoom at 5:00 p.m. Meetings are scheduled for:
  • June 25
  • July 2
  • July 16
  • July 30
  • August 13
The agenda and Zoom participation details for each meeting will be posted on MPCSD's website homepage under "Announcements" at least three days prior to each meeting.

Parent Engagement
Now that the Board has approved a reopening model, each school site will convene an advisory team that includes parents to help plan reopening details. If you have interest in serving on your school's team, please email your principal.

Each site will also host an engagement session with your school principal and two School Board members. The dates are:
  • Laurel Parent Engagement Meeting June 17, 4:00 p.m.
  • Encinal Parent Engagement Meeting June 17, 6:00 p.m.
  • Oak Knoll Parent Engagement Meeting June 19, 2:00 p.m.
  • Hillview Parent Engagement Meeting June 18, 6:30 p.m.
