Year End Activities

We need your help to welcome the Class of 2015 into our Alumni ranks! There are several opportunities for us to support the Seniors at the end of the school year.

On Tuesday, June 2 we will provide lunch for the Senior Class as they walk through the halls of Seneca one last time to say goodbye to their Champions and fellow Scholars. If you want to help grill hotdogs or serve them, be at the small gym by 11:30 that day. Make sure to check in at the front office first.

Each year the Senior Class is welcomed into Seneca Past and Present at the Senior Breakfast and Uniform Exchange. We always need help at this event passing out juice and breakfast biscuits, collecting and categorizing used uniforms and passing out t-shirts and welcome letters to the Senior Class. We can also use someone to take photos of the event for the website. This year the Breakfast will be on Friday, June 5 at 7:45am in the Large Cafeteria. Again, just check in at the front office first.

The 2015 Commencement will be held at 3:00pm on Monday, June 8. As in years past, there will be a special section designated for alumni! Come show your Seneca spirit by attending the graduation ceremony and sending our graduates off to their next adventure with the support of their Redhawk/Redskin Family!

Hall of Fame News

Thanks to Larry Williams '92 and the newly formed Seneca Hall of Fame Committee, we will have a Hall of Fame Class inducted in the Fall of 2016!  Guidelines for nominations and the nomination form can be found on our website.  All nominations must be complete and received no later than May 1, 2016 in order to be considered for the Class of 2016 Inductees.  Put your thinking caps on and get to work!  There are so many people who are deserving of this honor that it will be difficult choosing during this inaugural year.

How many of you remember a Hall of Fame at Seneca High School in years past?  There was a Hall of Fame but we are not able to find complete information on all members of the old Hall of Fame.  If you know someone who was honored in this way, please let us know so that they can be grandfathered into the new Seneca Hall of Fame!

Scholarship News

On Monday, June 1, Seneca Past and Present will present our annual scholarships at the Senior Awards Ceremony at 12:00pm.  Each year Seneca Past and Present accepts scholarship applications based on entrance criteria presented to the Senior Class and awards a $500 scholarship to one male and one female scholar.  This year's scholarship recipients have been chosen and will be announced at the Senior Awards Ceremony.  Come to support our graduates.

In addition, the Class of 1962's annual Essay Contest resulted in some stiff competition.  The winner of that Contest will also be announced at the Senior Awards Ceremony.  If other classes wish to promote something similar, let us know and we can help get the word out!

Where in the World is John Locke?

Pending JCPS approval, plans are underway to name the entrance drive to Seneca High School 'John Locke Lane' in honor of the man that served as Assistant Principal from 1974-1989 and as Principal from 1989-2005. This well-loved and respected man made a huge impact at Seneca during all of those years and we want to support the school's plan to name the entrance drive after him. Look for a new street sign soon! Well done!
Recent Donations

Your Seneca Past and Present Board has been hard at work offering support to the many activities and needs of Seneca High School. Recent donations made by Seneca Past and Present have been made to the Redhawk Rangers to assist with travel expenses for college visits. Specific scholar travel assistance was provided for the Future Educators Association (FEA) of Seneca to the National Conference in Washington, DC. Pending JCPS approval, SP&P will purchase a new copier for the Media Center. The Baseball team received new replacement nets for the outdoor hitting cage and replacement nets for individual hitting screens. And last but not least, Seneca Past and Present donated (pending JCPS approval) $25,000 to refurbish the weight room so that all scholar athletes will have a better conditioning experience.
