Summer Hours
The Library will be closed on Friday, July 4 and Saturday, July 5 in observance of Indepence Day.
The Library is closed on Sundays, through August 31.
Beginning this Saturday, June 28 - Saturday, August 23, the Main Branch of the Library will be open on Saturdays, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm. The Huguenot Children's Library will be closed on Saturdays, June 28 - August 23.
Both branches of NRPL will be closed Saturday, August 30 - Monday, September 1 in observance of Labor Day.

This Saturday! Sing Your Heart Out Concert
Join us this Saturday for an uplifting musical performance by the "Sing Your Heart Out" (SYHO) singers on Saturday, June 28, 12:00 pm,, led by music maestro Robert Puleo. The concert will feature selections celebrating summer, the outdoors, community and love. Adding to the delight, the Songcatchers' Youth Choir will join SYHO for part of the concert, blending their youthful voices in harmonious collaboration.

NRPL Film Series: Library Movies at the Library - The Public (2018)
Join us next Tuesday, July 1, 5:00 pm when we screen The Public (2018), the first film in our two- film summer series "Library Movies at the Library." In this series, New Rochelle librarian, author, and film historian Chris Poggiali will introduce and discuss two movies centered around public libraries.
A librarian helps a group of homeless people take refuge from a brutal winter night by staging a sit-in at the public library. A misunderstanding causes his noble act to wrongly escalate into a hostage situation with a political candidate and a TV reporter stoking the drama for their own agendas. Starring Emilio Estevez, Jena Malone, Gabrielle Union; directed by Emilio Estevez.122 minutes – Rated PG-13

Learn English as a Second Language: Placement Test
The online placement test for the next in-person Beginner ESL class will be held on Thursday, July 3, 9:00 am. Classes begin Monday, July 7.

Calpulli Mexican Dance Summer Workshops at NRPL Now Registering
Join the fun and excitement of learning authentic Mexican dance this summer! Sign up to participate in our Calpulli Dance workshops, beginning Thursday, July 10 - August 7. We have separate workshops for ages 5-7, 8-13, and Teens/Adults.
In addition to learning traditional dance movements and choreographies, participants will learn the history and background of each dance, and perform in the finale of our International Music and Dance Festival on Tuesday, August 12.

International Music and Dance Festival 2025: Kaleidoscope of Eastern European Music and Dance
The New Rochelle Public Library, through the generous support of the Friends of the New Rochelle Public Library, are delighted to bring back the renowned International Music and Dance Festival this summer. The series kicks off on Tuesday, July 8, 7:00 pm with a Kaleidoscope of Eastern European Music and Dance in our air-conditioned Ossie Davis Theater.
Travel with us through the heart of Eastern Europe! Dazzling costume changes, soaring vocals, and live music set the stage—and you may find yourself dancing alongside our performers. Get ready for an evening of vibrant melodies and high-energy steps!

Mah Jongg Open Play: Summer Schedule
Summer Open play will continue on Thursday evenings, 5:45 - 7:45 pm, beginning July 17 - August 28
Our hope is to provide a space where players can join together for a weekly game. This program is for experienced players of all levels.
Weekday afternoon open play is on pause for the summer. Fall dates will be announced in August.

Coming Soon: Kids Acting Workshop with the Sandbox Theatre
Registration opens on July 1
Join us on 4 Saturdays, July 26 - August 16, 10:30 am - 12:00 pm for a fast-paced and fun class that teaches the basics of performing - from projecting your voice, to developing a character, and even learning all about improvisation - with an emphasis on comedy. No experience necessary! Attendance at all sessions is recommended. Ages 7-12

Mark Your Calendar for Freckleface Strawberry the Musical
Join us on Wednesday, July 9, 2:00 pm for a fun & touching musical based on the best-selling picture book by celebrated actress Julianne Moore. Freckleface Strawberry is just like everyone else, except that she has red hair and freckles, but when she tries to hide who she is, she learns about true friendship and accepting yourself just as you are.

Opening Soon: New Rochelle Art Association Jules Bauer Award Show 2025
The New Rochelle Art Association presents The Jules Bauer Memorial Award Show, opening on Saturday, June 28. The Jules Bauer Memorial Award was established by Jules Bauer’s family after his death in November, 1980. A former president of the New Rochelle Art Association, he also served as chairman of the Municipal Art Commission and on the Board of Governors at New Rochelle Hospital Medical Center.
The show is open to all exhibiting members of the Association, with a cash prize in Jules Bauer’s name to be awarded for best watercolor. Ribbons will also be awarded for outstanding entries in all media.

Do you know a senior with Alzheimer's who wanders? Or a child or young adult with autism or a developmental disability who wanders? If so, help them sign up for Project Lifesaver, a free program that uses radio frequency to locate a person who has wandered, and help them return home safely.
