Our Partners Make It Possible

At C-STEM, our generous partners are essential to making a big difference in the lives of underserved and underrepresented students. This month, we wanted to highlight two devoted partners that helping us continue our mission in bigger and better ways each year.

Our partnership with the HESS corporation has empowered us to provide much-needed teacher training programs. Their generous donation funded training and curriculum for more than 25 Houston-area teachers for the 2022-23 school year. This has become essential with the rising staffing shortages in pre-K-12 education.

"Our partnership with HESS gives us the flexibility to help schools and students in the ways that will provide the most impact," said C-STEM Founder and CEO Reagan Flowers. "These needs change over time, and we're excited to make an even bigger impact in the 2023-24 school year with the support of HESS."

Centerpoint Energy is another partner that helps drive our mission forward. Thanks to these partnerships, we distributed nearly 500 toolkits and touched nearly 5,000 students with our programs and outreach in 2022. These efforts were made possible thanks to generous partners like CenterPoint and HESS Corporation, whose Their investments in C-STEM allowed us to create STEM opportunities in eight area schools throughout the year. With continued support from C-STEM, we will do even bigger things this year!

Every Dollar Counts

While we are incredibly grateful for our amazing partners, we still have a long way to go to meet our 2023 $150k fundraising goal.

This signature fundraiser directly supports our operations and is responsible for more than HALF of our operating budget.

These funds directly impact our operating budget and the number of students we are able to help.

How can you help? First of all, if you already donated, THANK YOU. Here are some other ways you can help us reach our goal:

  • Spread the word to friends and family. Let them know they can make a difference with a donation as small as $10!
  • Find out if the company you work for will match your donation.
  • Volunteer your time! We're always looking for volunteers.
  • Do you own a business or influence community relations at your company? Consider a corporate partnership with C-STEM.

Grant Helps Restore Free Little Library

Earlier this year, C-STEM received a generous $2,500 grant from Houston Arts Alliance. We're proud to announce that we were able to use the funds to complete much-needed maintenance on the Little Robot Free Library art structure. We have begun repairs by fixing the floorboard of the art structure. The free library is now back in full operation!

Thank you to Houston Arts Alliance for helping us continue to serve the local community!

Meet the New Faces of C-STEM

Darrizett Moore, MBA

Programs and Operations Assistant

Moore comes to C-STEM with a background in Information Technology, including client management, project management, sales, and marketing. She is also an entrepreneur and has devoted time to area youth by volunteering her time to Junior Achievement and High Houston Youth.

"I am very interested in helping C-STEM accomplish its mission to inspire the next generation of innovators and thought leaders by engaging them in exciting hands-on projects, solving real-world problems to encourage entry into the talent pipeline, bolster self-confidence, and foster a well-rounded mastery of the areas of Communications, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics," she said.

Moore plans to help grow C-STEM by assisting in sales, marketing, and fundraising efforts, as well as building relationships with potential clients, partners, sponsors, donors, and volunteers.

Ariana Ryan

C-STEM Intern

Ryan is a New Orleans native who moved to Texas following Hurricane Ida in 2021. She is currently enrolled in Houston Community College, pursuing an associate degree in culinary arts. After finishing school, she plans on opening up her own restaurant.

"I want it to be a multi-genre restaurant where people can come and sit at one of my tables and just travel the world by eating," she said. "My time with C-STEM will be great. It's a new work experience for me. I'm learning new things and able to do hands-on projects (which I love), give back to kids and help them learn, which I enjoy doing also."

Blast from the Past

School is Back in Session

We love taking you down memory lane. Now that schools across the nation are back in session, we wanted to take a minute to celebrate from C-STEM back-to-school moments from 2021 and celebrate all the teachers, parents and volunteers that make each school year great. We hope you see some familiar faces and it brings up some fond memories!
