Hello Rockwell Families,
All of us on the PTA board are eager for things to return to something that resembles “normal” next year. Many of the PTA programs (art docent, salmon in the classroom, our amazing Spring musical, etc.) had to be put on hold this year due to Covid restrictions. We are committed to making the ’21 – ’22 school year the Beagle best, but we need help from additional volunteers to make sure we’re ready to hit the ground running come September.
Most urgently, are looking for a web administrator. If you have tech experience, please consider helping with this critical role.
We are also looking for someone to serve as VP of Volunteer Services. It’s an incredibly rewarding role, and our current chair (Gretchen Knapp) will be around to help train her replacement, and to answer questions as they arise over the school year.
Additionally, we’re looking for someone to serve as VP of Academic Enrichment. This person will be in charge of coordinating the PTA-run after school programs next school year. Right now we’re not sure whether any programs will be allowed to run in-person, but we’re hopeful we might be able have some after-school programs for the kids (like chess club, coding, etc).
We would welcome anyone interested in serving on the board with open arms! Even if you’re not ready to jump onto the board, we have many other volunteer positions that need to be filled. Below is a list of current open volunteer spots. Please reach to Denice at president@normanrockwellpta.org if you have any questions about what these volunteer roles entail.
Back to School BBQ
Field Day
Chair for Teacher appreciation week
Volunteer awards
Room parent Chair
Teacher Birthday & Volunteer Luncheons
Yearbook Committee
Spirit Week Chair
Box Tops Contest
Restaurant Week/Dine out
School Pool
Read-a-Thon
Ice Cream Social Chair
Rockwell Musical Chair
School Dance Party Chair
STEM night Chair
PTA Reflections Art Contest
Salmon in the Classroom Chair
We’re hoping to make a strong comeback for the ’21-’22 school year, but we can’t do that without additional volunteers from the school community. Please consider volunteering in any capacity that you can next year.

Rockwell Elementary 1981-2021

This fall marks the 40th anniversary of Norman Rockwell Elementary School! We are all very much hoping our community will be healthy enough to gather in person, so in that spirit, we're starting to pull together a "40th anniversary committee." We have already started asking for tshirt designs in the Beagle Bugle. In addition, the committee's role will be to gather pictures, stories, and memorabilia from the last 40 years of Rockwell and highlight them throughout the year. We are tentatively planning on kicking off the event at the Back To School Picnic in September. If you are interested in joining us, or have something to share, please email Gretchen Knapp at volunteering@normanrockwellpta.org"

If you received the wrong item, or are still waiting to get yours back, please swing by the schools front door area Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday this week to hopefully find yours. If you have any questions, please email artdocentchair@normanrockwellpta.org

A Message For 5th Grade Families From Redmond Middle School: Athletics
Welcome to after school Athletics at Redmond Middle School. Families can sign up for after school sports via Final Forms (the district platform for athletics) once registration for the 21-22 school year is open in August. Your student can register for up to 1 sport each season. Students do need to have a valid physical, be an ASB member ($25) and pay the fee for sports ($75). Scholarships are available, please contact Ms. Poblete (spoblete@lwsd.org) to request one. We recommend families schedule physicals over the summer, as all forms and payment need to be turned in by Wednesday September 8th to be eligible to participate in season 1. If you have questions, please contact our Athletic Director, Rathan Mahendran (rmahendran@lwsd.org)
Season 1 (9/13-10/29) –
- Boys Basketball
- Boys Tennis
- Co-ed Cross Country
Season 2 (11/1-12/17) –
- Girls Badminton
- Boys Soccer
Season 3 (2/7-3/25) –
- Co-ed Wrestling
- Girls Basketball
Season 4 (4/11-6/3) –
- Girls Volleyball
- Girls Tennis
- Co-ed Track and Field
Signing up allows our school to plan for the most successful season possible. Payment for each season will open approximately 3 weeks prior to the start of the season. Season 1 payments will open in late August. We hope that your student will consider participating in something, it is a great way to be connected to a school, to build lasting relationships and have fun! At the middle school level every student will play on a team – there is a “no-cut” policy.
NOTE – Final Forms for current 8th graders moving to Redmond High School will open in late July as they need to transfer student information in the system. Please check their website for details on registration, seasons and other details.
