What are they saying about  the
X-250 Scrapper?
"It's the best X-ray gun ever made."

What's the difference?
Speed and accuracy on aluminum alloys.
Here are the facts.
All modern X-ray guns do a great job on stainless, high temps and turnings.  But aluminum alloys have been the traditional weakness of X-ray technology. To sort Al alloys quickly and accurately, you must measure magnesium (Mg) and silicon (Si) well, since so many 5000's, 6000's, and cast aluminums differ by small amounts of these two elements. X-ray technology has historically been poor at measuring these elements, and thus has required long testing times to reliably sort aluminums.
The SciAps X-250 "Scrapper" changes all that.
It preserves the great performance on stainless and high temps AND delivers rock solid aluminum performance. How? Three improvements: A combination of a highly optimized X-ray gun design for Mg and Si measurements, a new X-ray tube -- the industry's most powerful, and our completely re-thought approach to aluminum alloys.
The X-250 offers two Apps to analyze aluminum. The most popular App is our patent-pending Aluminum App for sorting. The Al App measures down to 0.2% Mg, 0.1% Si and metals Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu and Zn in 2 seconds. This element suite will sort 90+% of the aluminum alloys most processors encounter. If the alloy identified could be a similar grade containing Zr, Ag, Pb, Bi or Sn, then the X-250 automatically adjusts testing conditions for an additional 2 seconds to measure these elements. The X is smart --- it only takes the additional 2 seconds if necessary. And, your operator doesn't have to be an aluminum expert to use it.
The Scrapper X-250
sorts 90+% of your aluminum alloys in 2 seconds, the rest in 4 seconds. Up to 10x faster than other X-ray guns.
The other option is the general alloy app that comes with the X-250. Use this App when precise elemental chemistry is more important than high speed sorting. One common example is measuring precise iron (Fe), use the general Alloy App that is also provided with the X-250. This app is configured to offer extended testing times, if needed, to obtain higher precision on aluminum alloys. For example, the X-250 may perform 5-6 second tests for precise iron content in cast aluminums, rather than 2 second sorting tests. Either way, you're covered with the X-250 whether your testing high temps, aluminums, turnings.

Scrapper X-250 and Aluminum App

The Scrapper X-250 blows away the X-ray legacy for aluminum alloys. It's ultra-fast on Mg, Al and Si and therefore nearly all aluminum alloys. AND still delivers the hallmark of X-ray - great performance on high temps, stainless and turnings.

FAQs
Q:
What if I'm using Al App and have a piece of stainless in my aluminum pile, will I get a nonsense answer?

A: No. The Al App looks at the spectral data and if the material is not aluminum, it automatically switches to the general Alloy App and accurately analyzes the material. We've made operating the X-250 smart enough that inexperienced users can reliably sort complex alloys.
Q:  What if the aluminum is anodized will I get crazy results?

A: No. Check out our latest update where we detect if the aluminum material is anodized, and if so, we warn the operator to grind the material. Historically X-ray technology hasn't worked well on oxidized material, and has reported erroneous results. Our Al App fixes all that.
