Animal Ecology with Rindy Anderson, Ph.D.

College of Science Dean, Ata Sarajedini, Ph.D., talks about how science is a self correcting process through the testing of theories, and the fundamentals of research. He speaks with FAU Assistant Professor, Rindy Anderson, Ph.D., a behavioral ecologist. Anderson studies the social behavior of songbirds, in particular the vocal signals of Bachman's sparrows. Teens "Mocked" By Parents at Greater Risk for Bullying

A study from researchers in the Department of Psychology suggests that adolescent bullying and victimization may have origins in the home. The study was performed by Brett Laursen, Ph.D., Professor of Psychology and corresponding author, as well as co-author, Ph.D. student, Olivia Valdes, and collaborators at partner institutions. Camera Traps Reveal Secretive Dryas Monkey

Graduate student, Daniel Alempijevic's, persistence with camera traps finds that the Dryas monkey is a master of stealth and more common than previously thought. Dryas monkeys are rarely found in the forest canopy or ground, preferring dense vine thickets in the understory that are hard to access. Daniel is working with FAU's Kate Detwiler, Ph.D., on the project in the Democratic Republic of Congo Lomami National Park in Central Africa. Read More.

Hot Chicks and Cool Dudes with Boris Tezak

Ph.D. student, Boris Tezak, was interviewed on the "So You Want to Be a Marine Biologist" podcast about his sea turtle research. Tezak studies temperature sex determination in sea turtles and has discovered a new way to identify the sex of young sea turtles without the need for invasive surgery. He discusses his research with host and FAU alumna, Kara Muzia. Listen to the podcast here.

Following his Research in Action talk at the Boca Raton Public Library, College of Science Dean and Professor, Ata Sarajedini, Ph.D., shared a blog post about his experience, " Astronomy frequently concerns itself with addressing questions related to the origins of things in the same way philosophy does.
