$450,000 Grant for Visualizing Sea Level Rise in West Palm Beach 
Funding will be utilized on a project with FAU’s Center for Urban and Environmental Solutions that uses immersive technology to engage the North End community, schools, and decision-makers on the topic of sea-level rise to ultimately develop an action plan to mitigate sea level rise impacts. Satellite Tracking Juvenile Leatherback Sea Turtles
New technologies are finally shedding light on one of the greatest mysteries in sea turtle biology. Using prototype "micro-satellite" tags specifically designed to fit juvenile leatherback turtles, Florida Atlantic University's Marine Science Lab and Upwell released eighteen captive-reared juvenile leatherbacks off the coast of Florida and tracked their movements.

Virtual Pre-Health Weeks and Graduate Fair
The 2021 Virtual Pre-Health Professions Weeks begin on Monday, March 15, and run through Thursday, March 25, 2021. The college’s Pre-Health Professions Office will kick off this year's festivities with a health fair organized by the student organizations, as well as a physicians panel and a medical student admissions panel. On Pre-Health Professions Day, admissions representatives will be in attendance from a variety of health related graduate schools and programs including medical, dental, pharmacy, physician assistant, physical therapy, occupational therapy, podiatry, chiropractic, veterinary medicine, optometry, and many more. Owl Research & Innovation Spring 2021 Magazine 
Learn about the innovative research and initiatives taking place in the College of Science in the Spring 2021 issue of Owl Research & Innovation. Some of the research and scholarship featured in the magazine includes: mapping cavefish brains, a $2.5M NSF grant to train in data science, early-career NSF awards, discovery of the first urban nursery ground for manta rays off the Florida coast, the creation of cognitive precursors for Alzheimer’s disease, Covid-19 modeling and evaluation, and the Art of Science 2020 Photo Contest. Walter & Lalita Janke Foundation Innovations in Sustainability Science Research Fund
Request for Proposals:

The Walter & Lalita Janke Foundation Innovations in Sustainability Science Research Fund, through the FAU Center for Environmental Studies, is requesting research project proposals that will enhance existing energy technologies and support the early development of promising new energy concepts and applications. Pre-proposals are due by midnight on Sunday, February 28, 2021, with a maximum budget of $50,000 for up to 18 months. FAU faculty and graduate students are invited to apply. Learn more.
Math Day 2020 
While this year's Math Day was virtual, the Department of Mathematical Sciences' annual event was a success, attracting almost 150 participants! Expert speakers also made an appearance at the virtual competition. Read more about the 2020 Math Day event and its contestant winners.
Three Minute Thesis Championship Competitor Nicholas Nifakos 
Nicholas Nifakos is a doctoral candidate in biological sciences who presented, "Analysis of SLKED-mediated wound response to insect herbivory in Solanum lycopersicum" at the 2020 Three Minute Thesis Competition. College of Science Spring 2021 Continuing Education Courses
The College of Science Pre-Health Office is offering three continuing education courses this spring that are available for students and members of the community: Basic Clinical Skills for Pre-Health Students, a Certified Nursing Assistant Test Prep Course (CNA), and an Electrocardiogram (EKG-12 Leads) Technician Course. Each course is meant to promote education for future careers in health and medicine. Read more.

The 2020 Art of Science Virtual Exhibition is now available. Take a virtual “walk” through the 2020 Art of Science photography exhibition to celebrate the finalists of the 2020 Art of Science photography contest. First Transport Access Manual Published
Jeanette Wyneken, Ph.D., director of FAU’s Marine Science Lab and professor, and Sarah Milton, Ph.D., chair and professor of the Department of Biological Sciences, were both interviewed on the podcast, New Climate Narratives, detailing how they confront climate change in their research. FAU Cares Emergency Fund for Students
Florida Atlantic University established the "FAU Cares Emergency Fund" for currently registered, degree-seeking students who are experiencing financial hardship. The fund can be used for education-related expenses such as room, board, tuition, and personal expenses.
