Alexandra Decesare is pursuing her B.S. in Physics, working with Warner Miller, Ph.D., in the Quantum Optics Lab. “I am the team lead for the Quantum Drone team. We are developing specialized drones for use in quantum communication and cryptography.” Read more.

Meet the Shark Expert: Stephen Kajiura Featured in Boca Raton Magazine

Boca Raton Magazine dives into how Stephen Kajiura, Ph.D., Professor of Biological Sciences, aims to reduce beachgoers' fear when it comes to the annual migration of thousands of sharks off the local coastline. Kajiura explains, “As residents down here, we should be delighted when we see the sharks, because it’s really indicative that we have a healthy ecosystem. It should be viewed as something we’re proud of.” Read more.

35th Annual Everglades Coalition

Director and Professor of the Environmental Sciences Program, Dale Gawlik, Ph.D., served on a panel for “Lake Okeechobee Management: The Big Water,” at the 35th Annual Everglades Coalition Conference in January. Gawlik joined peers from groups such as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Audubon Florida. The panel provided science-based dialogue on the management of Lake Okeechobee, and its relation to the health of the Everglades ecosystem.

FAU Geoscientist Featured

Molluscan paleontology and stratigraphy of high latitude regions, to biogeographic and evolutionary consequences of climate change, those are some of the research interests of Associate Professor of Geology, Anton Oleinik, Ph.D. Oleinik's research brings him around the world, from the North Pacific to underwater sites in Florida and the Carribean.
