Calling all LEGO fans
An all ages LEGO Club is coming to the Greenacres and Port Adelaide libraries and we're calling for volunteers to help to run them. The club will be held once a month at each location on Saturday mornings from 10:00-11:30.
> Love all things LEGO
> Would like to facilitate a LEGO club for all ages
> Have a reliable, energetic and responsible attitude
> Enjoy teaching and working with others
> And, are able to be independent and follow guidelines...
If you have a child who loves to code, or is showing an interest in coding, then this club is for them. Coding is now part of our tech future and gives kids the chance to learn and practise with others who are interested in the same things.
While we'll use Scratch and other coding platforms to create games, animations and more, we're also keen to hear back from the kids on what they want to learn.
The sessions are run by a volunteer and suitable for children aged 9+. Bookings essential.
It's time to review your utilities
We partner with many local organisations and we're pleased to again be working with UnitingCare Wesley Bowden and their Bring Your Bills sessions.
If you need some help to get the best deal out of your utilities provider or are struggling to understand some of the charges on your bill, then these informative one-on-one sessions can help. Just make sure you bring along copies of your bills.
These sessions are drop in, no bookings are required. For more information please visit our website.
What will you discover this Science Week?
We have put together the ultimate guide to National Science Week at our libraries.
The week is a celebration of all things science, giving you the opportunity to find out how things work in the vacuum of space, what are cosmic rays and how do they affect us on earth, and astronauts on the moon, plus build and blast your own rocket. Bookings are required for some sessions. Check out the guide on our website
Science and the understand of how things work and why, forms a big part of our kids' programming too. You can find more information about our weekly STEM Squad sessions here.
Our amazing NAIDOC Week exhibitions
Semaphore and Enfield libraries burst in to colour during July, proudly hosting NAIDOC Week painting exhibitions by the children of Dominican School in Semaphore and Blair Athol North School in Blair Athol.
Their impressive artworks carried a message of tolerance, understanding and friendship in Australia. Children from both schools spoke about their increased understanding of traditional land ownership and the richness and value of Aboriginal culture in their areas.
City of PAE Aboriginal and Cultural Diversity Officer Rodney Welch was on hand to congratulate students, pick a few favourites, and share some impressive (and tasty) NAIDOC week cupcakes!
There's plenty more to discover...
