Dino Day Celebration! | June 1 | 11:00am - 3:00pm


This event is going to be dino-mite! 🦖


Join Steggy, Mary and Black Beauty on Saturday, June 1 to celebrate #NationalDinoDay! Investigate dinosaurs up close and participate in hands-on activities designed for all ages. 


🦖 T-rex and Me: Compare the size of your body parts to those of this apex predator

🦕 Sauropod Supper: Gather as many leaves as you can to keep this dinosaur fed

🦷 Tales in the Teeth: Examine dino teeth casts to learn what they ate and how

🦴 Feel that Fossil: Touch REAL bones, teeth and other fossils

🎨 Paper Dinos: Make your own dino friend to take home

🔎 Dino Dig Boxes: Go digging to see what you can find

Activities are available with the purchase of general admission and run from 11:00am to 3:00pm.  


Also, our exploreLAB will run exclusive programming exploring, “Jurassic Park: What’s fact? What’s fiction?” at 11:30am, 12:30pm and 1:30pm. This is not included with general admission. Tickets range in price from $1 - $5 per person and can be purchased upon arrival.

NEW! exploreLAB Program | Tour the Jurassic | Select Saturdays and Sundays 


A NEW exploreLAB program is coming to the Institute! 🦖


Kicking off on June 8, the exporeLAB will now feature, “Tour the Jurassic,” an interactive experience to investigate the dino-stars featured in the original Jurassic Park film up close! 


Discover what scientists have learned since the film came out 30 years ago, including what dino-facts we know have held up, and what ideas have gone extinct. 



This program is recommended for ages 6 and up. Tickets to the exploreLAB are between $1-$5.

Save the Date! | 7th Annual Women Rock Science Fundraising Gala | October 9, 2024 | 6:00pm - 9:00pm


Women Rock Science is expanding in 2024!  🧪


After a sold out event in 2023, with more than 340 guests, we’re excited to announce that the Institute is mixing things up this year to accommodate ticket demand for an additional 100 guests!


This event is a women-led fundraising event that aims to ignite curiosity for children in the areas of Science, Technology, Arts, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEAM).


Proceeds from the event continue to bring more #STEAM programming, delivered by Cranbrook Institute of Science educators, to Pre-K through Grade 12 students in under-resourced communities throughout Michigan.



Tickets will go on sale in the beginning of July, so keep your eyes peeled!

Immerse yourself in space at the Acheson Planetarium!


If you’re thinking about visiting our Acheson Planetarium, make sure you *planet* now! 😉


Immerse yourself in another world at one of the many shows featured at our Acheson Planetarium - we’ve got something for everyone!


The Acheson Planetarium will be closed for renovations from June 10 - June 24 (tentatively) for renovations, so make sure to visit soon!

Our Explore Camps feature fun-filled and educational programming for K-5 students to learn through doing. These week-long camps offer a variety of topics and include activities, experiments, and investigations that explore popular science topics in a unique and safe environment. 🌳



Each week focuses on a different immersive scientific topic - sign up for one week or multiple!

In need of some fresh air?


Come to the Institute and explore over 300 acres of grounds that make up Cranbrook’s campus!


On the Cranbrook grounds, you’ll find:


🌳 Beautiful nature trails - perfect to walk your dog or stroll with your family!

🌊 The rippling Rouge River that runs directly through campus

🌼 Many, many, many native Michigan plants

💧 Two lakes - look out for turtles!

🦖 And, of course, dinosaurs! 



The trails are free and open to the public.

Don’t Forget! 

  • Register for Free First Friday (June 7), courtesy of MASCO to get FREE admission to the Institute! Walk-ups welcome between 10:00am - 5:00pm. Pre-registration is required after 5:00pm. 
  • Register for Free Third Thursday (June 20), courtesy of the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan, and get FREE admission to the Institute between 5:00 - 8:00pm. Walk-ups are welcome, but due to capacity limits, entrance is not guaranteed. 
  • Experience everything the museum has to offer for only $5 every Friday after 5:00pm! General admission and Acheson Planetarium tickets will be available for just $5 each. Learn more. 
  • Ramp up your scout program with our workshops! Scouts can engage in science-themed activities that are entertaining and will fill your group’s badge requirement. Custom workshops and dates are available. Sign up today!
