We have rebranded our network with a fresh new look to complement our new strategic direction for 2017-2020.  You'll see our new logo in use on our website, social media, and other platforms immediately, and look out for a brand new website that will be launched in August!

2017 Annual Conference and AGM
Glasgow, 13 September
Join us for the official launch of Scotland's International Development Alliance.  Ann McKechin, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at Scottish Power and Professor John Briggs, Glasgow Centre for International Development, will join the Alliance's Chair and Chief Executive on the panel to share ideas on how a broader alliance of organisations in Scotland can together achieve more for international development.  A draft programme will be available and registration will open on Thursday 13 July 2017.  Read more.
Climate Justice Innovation Fund info session
Edinburgh, 6 July
The Scottish Government is holding a half-day information session for potential applicants to the Climate Justice Innovation Fund. Grants will be made for projects in Malawi, Rwanda and Zambia, up to a maximum of £100,000 over three years. Applications are encouraged from under-represented groups (such as diaspora organisations), small organisations (with annual turnover under £150,000 pa) and groups working in collaboration with others. Meeting with the Minister
Edinburgh, 14 August
Dr. Alasdair Allan MSP, Scottish Government Minister for International Development, will host the first in a series of quarterly meetings with Scottish organisations engaged in international development. Scotland for a Fairer World: How are charities in Scotland contributing?
Scotland's International Development Alliance has published the findings of research undertaken on its behalf by Rebecca Brown, a PhD student at Glasgow University. The research paper outlines the overall size and scope of international aid and development carried out by Scottish registered charities.  Read the report.

We're pleased to welcome two new volunteers: Rhys Walker and Rosie Bartholomew. Rhys will be supporting our communications work, and Rosie will be supporting the planning for our annual conference. 
Small Charities Challenge Fund opening soon
Priti Patel has announced that DFID's Small Charities Challenge Fund will open this week, supporting small UK-registered charities with annual incomes under £250,000.

Potential changes to ODA rules
Jamie Morrison, Chair of the Alliance, attended a meeting in Whitehall with DFID and leading NGOs to discuss changes to the Official Development Assistance (ODA) rules.

Government pledges access to UK markets 
The UK Government has pledged to improve access to UK markets for developing countries after the UK leaves the EU, by securing existing duty-free access and increasing trade.
Culture, Tourism, Europe, and External Relations Committee meeting report

The Alliance gave evidence on the Scottish Government's international development strategy to the Culture, Tourism, Europe, and External Relations Committee. 
New SNP spokesperson for international development
Chris Law MP has been named as the new Shadow SNP Spokesperson for  International Development and Climate Justice. Chris is the SNP MP for Dundee West.

New European Consensus on Development
EU leaders have agreed a new framework for European development cooperation that aligns EU support for development with the goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
