Join us at the library (and at other locations throughout Scott and Carver counties by perusing the End in Mind Community Calendar) as we begin the conversation. Prepare to be entertained and enchanted, to laugh and to cry when playwright, storyteller, and humorist Kevin Kling drops by to tell his tales. Kevin will share autobiographical stories involving motorcycles, dogs, growing up in Minnesota, getting hit by lightning, and eating things before knowing what they are.

It's never too early to start planning your garden! Join the Carver-Scott County Master Gardeners for a series of gardening classes that will teach you tips and techniques to make your Minnesota garden beautiful and bountiful.

The Prior Lake Friends of the Library welcomes Amy Jerabek Pendino, author of The Witness Tree: A novel, to the Prior Lake Library for a book reading and signing. Ms. Pendino will read from her debut novel, discuss her writing, and answer questions from the audience. Amy Pendino is  a Minnesota native - formerly of Prior Lake! - who believes in family, small towns, good coffee and horses.

Join Carol Veldman Rudie from the Museum of Russian Art as she discusses love of the state versus romantic love between individuals, as a theme in Russian art in the Soviet era.

New Prague Library

Learn to capture the essence of a landscape. Whether you like to draw, paint, or take photographs this workshop will improve your drawing and compositional techniques for capturing and rendering outdoor landscapes. Registration required.

Monday, February 25th, 6:00-8:00pm
Belle Plaine Library

Join Scott County Library and Smalltown Eclectic as they present Loud! at the Library, an open mic and art night. Discover hidden talent, in a supportive and friendly atmosphere.

Tuesdays, February 26th, March 5th & 12th, 2:00-3:30pm
Shakopee Library

In this class we will create collages using a variety of papers, fibers, and objects. Class projects will include portraits, creatures, still life, and abstract art pieces. Registration - for all 3 classes - required.

New Prague Library

Filled with strange deaths, ghosts, sea serpents, peculiar people, medical anomalies, oddities, psychic phenomena, and UFOs, this presentation will certainly change the way residents view the good old days of Minnesota. For over two decades Chad Lewis has traveled the back roads of the world in search of the strange and unusual.

The South Metro Chapter of SCORE presents free, confidential small business counseling, coaching and mentoring once a month.  Pre-registration is required.   


Legal Clinics 

Mondays (except February 18th), 11:00am-2:00pm
Law Library

This is an opportunity, offered every Monday, to come to Room 102 in the Scott County Government Center and talk to an attorney about your victimization. She can advise you about orders for protection (domestic violence), harassment orders and more. This is a walk-in clinic so just stop by and talk to Monica.

Every 2nd Monday, 4:00-6:00pm
Law Library

The Scott County Law Library is offering a free 30-minute consultation with a volunteer family law attorney. This clinic  is only for people with family law issues. These issues include divorce, custody, child support and parenting time. This clinic is NOT for persons currently represented by an attorney. Pre-registration is required. 

Every 2nd and 4th Thursday, 4:00-6:00pm
Law Library

If you are representing yourself in Scott County Housing or Conciliation Court and need help filling out paperwork or preparing the required forms - this clinic may help you!  Two volunteer attorneys will be available for 20-minute consultations to get your questions answered. This clinic is a first come-first served clinic. No registration required.

Savage Library

Mobile devices are a serious investment as well as a storehouse of personal data and online activity, so they've become an essential part of our lives, but also targets of hackers and thieves. Learn which basic security settings are right for you and how to configure them. Topics include PINs and password managers, apps and backups, WiFi and VPNs, remote wipe, encryption, and smartphone scams.  Whether you use an iPhone or Android, make sure your smartphone is safe.
