Scottsdale invests $40 million in Old Town revitalization plan

The city is committing $40 million in fiscal year 2025/26 to upgrade infrastructure, enhance safety and improve the overall experience in Old Town Scottsdale. The area attracts millions of visitors annually, supporting a vibrant mix of restaurants, retail shops, art galleries, innovative startups and hospitality venues.


Initial work includes a “Spruce Up Old Town” effort with increased cleaning, pavement improvements and refreshed signage. Major capital projects include two new parking structures and streetscape upgrades along Main Street.


A new specialist position will support merchants to ensure clear communication around maintenance, construction impacts, and event coordination.

Arizona’s first decentralized tech conference set for 2026

Governor Katie Hobbs has announced Arizona Tech Week, the state’s first decentralized technology conference, set for April 6-12, 2026.


Organized by the Arizona Commerce Authority in partnership with the Arizona Venture Alliance, the event will feature keynotes, panels, pitch competitions, and networking opportunities at locations across the state.


Since 2010, Arizona has seen the number of VC deals grow 150% and the amount of VC investment grow more than 330%, both well above the U.S. average. Arizona Tech Week is expected to draw 25,000 participants, including global tech leaders, investors, and startups, to showcase the state’s growing role as a leader in innovation.

Galleria Corporate Centre welcomes four new tenants

The Galleria Corporate Centre in Old Town Scottsdale has leased 120,000 square feet to four new tenants: Independence Home Loans, AmTrust North America, Mark-Taylor Residential and Illuminarium Experiences. The leases, ranging from 20,000 to 43,000 square feet, are expected to be fully occupied by February 2026.


Recent renovations, including a modern fitness center and high-tech conference room, have helped attract a broader mix of tenants beyond the property’s traditional tech base. The additions reflect continued demand for high-quality office space in Scottsdale.

ASBA Relaunches ‘Leaving Your Mark’ Series to Spotlight Arizona Small Businesses

The Arizona Small Business Association, in partnership with Salt River Project, is bringing back its “Leaving Your Mark” video series to highlight inspirational and impactful small businesses across the state.


ASBA and SRP are seeking stories from entrepreneurs making a positive difference in their communities and beyond. Three finalists will be selected: two will receive a written feature shared via email and social media, and one grand prize winner will be awarded a professionally produced video showcasing their business, promoted ahead of Small Business Saturday.


Finalists will be featured to ASBA’s network of more than 32,000 across Arizona. Submissions are open through Sept. 30.

Scottsdale tourism generates $3.7 billion in 2024

Scottsdale welcomed more than 11 million visitors in 2024, fueling a $3.7 billion economic impact and supporting over 36,000 local jobs, according to the city’s annual tourism study.


Visitor numbers grew across the board, with increases in both domestic and international travelers. Tourism-related tax revenues exceeded municipal service costs by $22.8 million, helping fund essential services and quality-of-life improvements for residents.


Old Town Scottsdale, major annual events, and the city’s blend of outdoor adventure, luxury amenities, and cultural attractions continue to draw visitors from around the world.

The new Arizona Commerce Authority SBIR course is specifically designed to guide you step by step through the proposal development process.


The courses are designed to start about 10 weeks before the agency’s deadline and wrap up about 3 weeks before the submission deadline. Participants will complete the course with their proposal 80% complete, giving 3 weeks to fine-tune and finalize it.
