Responding to Humanitarian Crises

You may make your UMCOR donation for Haiti Relief through the SUMC offering plate until Sunday, September 12th.

Each Wednesday from September 1st - October 6th from 10-11:30am: Simon Peter Bible study will be held in the fellowship hall

Sunday, September 5th at 11am: Faithful Praise will lead us in worship

Saturday, September 25th from 2:30-5:30: B.L.A.S.T. Event ~ Fall Festival (see details below)

Monday, October 4th from 7-9pm: Cluster Charge Conference, includes SUMC and Mt. Zion, at Palmyra UMC ~ 258 Palmyra Way.

Sunday, October 10th at 11am: SUMC Homecoming

Every Thursday from 10-2: Skippers Senior Club meets in the SUMC fellowship hall.

Prayerfully Consider Volunteering at our B.L.A.S.T.

Fall Festival

An updated list of jobs available are below.

Our next B.L.A.S.T. children's event is a Fall Festival on September 25th from 2:30-5:30pm at Mt. Zion UMC!!! We will have several stations and games for kids and families to attend. Here are some of the things we have planned.

* Arts and crafts

* Pumpkin Station – tentative based on availability of pumpkins

* Obstacle Course

* Scavenger Hunt through the cemetery

* Yard Games/Carnival Games

* Cake Walk

* Petting zoo

There are many components to this event so we are hoping many of you will be able to come and help on the day of the event. Here are some of the areas where we need help.

* Set up (12:30pm – 2:30pm)

* Clean Up (5:30pm – finished)

* Parking (set up signs to designate parking and monitor the parking area when crowded)

* 1 Arts and Crafts leader still needed

* Help kids with pumpkin painting

* Collect estimates on the weight of the pumpkin

* Lead games

* Ring toss

* Scavenger hunt

* Needle in haystack search (kids search for prizes)

* Pumpkin knock down (throw a ball at a target)

* Corn hole

* Donate cakes, pies, brownies, cookies, etc. for the cake walk

Wayne Hall, a friend of the Hamners, who had a stroke. He is being moved to a rehab facility in the next day or so.
Chelsey Lundgren's friend, Kimberly, who has a second brain scan on Sept. 22nd
Randy Haney's son, Brooks and his fiancée, who both tested positive for Covid
Jack Emilut, who is back in the hospital and not doing well

The Morris Family: joy that the baby is discharged from the hospital and continued prayers for the 18-year-old. Joy that he has sensation in his legs

Week of August 1st

Morris Family, who was in a bad car accident on 20 and the father who is in the ICU.
All affected by the storm on July 28th.
Joy that Randy Haney's youngest son found a place to live.
Joy for Jack and Ann's 51st wedding anniversary.
Joy that Sammy Herndon's surgery was successful. He gives thanks for all of the support
