Dear Friends of Mt. Zion and Scottsville UMC:
I bring you greetings from Lakeside, Ohio. The temperatures this week have been in the 80s and 90s, but Lake Erie is beautiful—whether in hot or stormy or even cold weather (although in the cold weather, I will take Central Virginia’s more moderate temperatures any day!).
I want to update you on our efforts to respond to a request that we received from Mt. Zion Church a couple weeks ago. The question was raised of whether we could offer a worship service on Zoom so that people would be able to see and greet each other.
I have been looking into this, and I believe that the answer is yes! You will have to watch for additional details, but I will be trying to see if we can offer this option a week from now (Sunday, July 19). I would intend to offer this at the same time we offer the Facebook Live service and would do this by simply sharing the Facebook Screen on Zoom. We will offer a trial run at this to see how it works.
I hope you will join me this Sunday for our online worship. We will be talking about the parable of the sower, the seed, and the different types of soil. It did not go unnoticed by me that Jesus tells this parable by the sea. You just might get a glimpse of me talking about this parable by the sea of Lake Erie!
We are looking into additional ways to connect as a church even while remaining socially distant. If you have ideas, please let me know.
Meanwhile, have a blessed week, and always remember that you are a Child of God!
Grace and peace,
Pastor Tom
