Announcement Sunday in the United Methodist Church
As you may know this past Sunday was Announcement Sunday in the Methodist church. The Sunday when your Staff Parrish Relations Committee announces our new Pastor for the coming year which starts July 1 st .
Our District Superintendent Danny Kesner has been working hard to find a Pastor who is the right fit for our Southern Albemarle Charge this coming year. After an extensive search the decision is to have our interim Pastor Tom Frost continue part time for another year. I am very pleased Tom has agreed to do this, as I'm sure you are. He will continue to serve half time preaching through Facebook Sunday services for now. Hopefully, we will eventually be together in person on Sundays.

In addition Danny Kesner has a good prospect for a part time Pastor serving here "in person" two days, during the week and helping Pastor Tom with his duty’s. It’s too soon to announce this gentleman, but we will be learning more about him and his wife in the near future.

That’s all I have for now. Thank you and stay safe.

Prayers of the People

Please remember in your prayers the people who have been on our prayer list:

  • Joe Espino, artist in the Hope Beyond the Bars ministry, has tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently under quarantine.
  • All those at higher risk during this stay at home order: victims of domestic violence, child abuse, substance abuse, food insecurity, depression and other mental illness and the list goes on.
  • Carol Taylor's granddaughter, Emma, is doing very well following dental that required 2 extractions.
  • Anne Nowell, mother of Sharon Wormser, is doing very well following injuries sustained in a fall, and will be going home on Monday.
  •  Josh Jarrett, son of Joyce Jarratt, who has been diagnosed with kidney stones and other issues.
  • “Duck” Spradlin, as he continues his battle with cancer.
  •   Jim Lloyd, a friend of Carol Frost and Pastor Tom, who is being
         treated for acute leukemia.
  • All of those effected by the COVID-19 pandemic—those who are ill and the medical
staff who treat them.
  •  Those whose employment is in jeopardy due to coronavirus.
  •  Those who are living behind bars with no way to socially distance to avoid the virus.
  • Those who are recovering at home and those who are their caregivers.
  • Our shut-ins who are dealing with physical pain and the pain of isolation.
We are looking for a few more volunteers to help provide bi-weekly meals for our
shut-ins. We currently provide meals for 3 individuals. You can prepare the entire meal or partner with someone else to prepare a complete meal that will be delivered on the 2nd and 4th Friday of each month.
If you would like to help with this mission, please contact Ann or Staci.
Church members who want to join Pastor Tom’s Sunday worship on Facebook but do not have high-speed internet access at home now have an alternative. You can access the church Wi-Fi from your car by parking on Church Street near the front corner of the Fellowship Hall and accessing SUMC-FELLOWSHIP. The passcode (enter the first time and your device will remember it) is smoothpotato235.
