Lukas Stodola's Journey to the Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
On November 23, Lukas Stodola received his Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award at a special ceremony held at Queen’s Park in Toronto. Lukas, a Rover Scout from Ottawa, was one of only 38 award recipients from across Canada.
Lukas reflected on his journey for Scouting Life.
International Commissioner
Call for Applicants — Scouts Canada International Commissioner
Scouts Canada is looking for our next International Commissioner! In partnership with members of the Scouts Canada Leadership Team and Program staff, the International Commissioner ensures Scouts Canada’s international relations with other National Scouting Organizations, promotes participation in international Scouting events (including World Scout Jamborees and World Scout Moots) and encourages Scouting youth to find ways to experience other countries, Scouting programs and cultures.
Apply by Monday, February 24.
Safety Tip
Sleep Soundly — Bunk Bed Safety Tip
Sleeping in a bunk bed can be kind of fun. Getting the top bunk is a sign that a youth is mature enough for Scouters to trust them with the privilege.
It’s important not to overlook what makes sleeping on an upper bunk special, however: there is a very real element of risk. Every year, Scouting youth are seriously injured when they forget to act safely when in a bunk bed.
Check out this month’s Safety Tip to find out how to stay safe when sleeping in bunk beds.

Support Scouts Canada
Your volunteer efforts are acts of kindness that we, at Scouts Canada, value wholeheartedly. The time you dedicate to Scouts Canada makes a big difference in the lives of youth in communities across the country. There are employers who offer grants to organizations such as ours as a special “thank you” for their employees’ volunteerism. Yours could be one of them!
If you’re donating your time to an organization within your community and would like to learn more about how your community involvement can support Scouts Canada, we would love to hear from you.
