Phil Bethune to be Honored Today
in Myrtle Beach
at Mayors' Luncheon for Scouting
Today at the Marriott Grande Dunes Resort in Myrtle Beach, the Indian Waters Council will conduct its first inaugural Mayors' Awards Luncheon for Scouting. It is fitting that that the immediate past president of the Pee Dee Area Council, Phil Bethune, will be recognized there with the Distinguished Citizen of the Year Award. A great crowd will be there along with the mayors of Conway, Myrtle Beach, and North Myrtle Beach. We will also honor outstanding Scouts from the Grand Strand and raise important funds to support Camp Coker and Scouting in the Pee Dee region.

Cub Scout Summer Adventure Camp
July 14-16, 2023
Camp Barstow
Cub Scout Adventure Camp is a fun 3-day experience for Cub Scouts along with their leaders and/or parents. While immersed in adventures, Cub Scouts take part in activities such as archery, slinghshots, BB guns, nature hikes, games and crafts, swimming, and boating. Webelos and AOL's can earn activity pins, and Wolf and Bear Cubs can also complete advancement requirements.
Meals are provided. Camp overnight in tents or Adirondacks. Sign up with your pack or den or parent and Cub. Our theme this year is NOVA Quest! Activities will be centered around STEM. Sign cubs up for the Cub rank that they will be moving up to this summer (ex. currently a Tiger and moving up to a Wolf by June, sign-up as a Wolf). All youth and adult attendees must come to camp with a current Health and Medical Record (Part A+B). Cubs MUST attend with adult supervision from a parent or leaders from the Pack.
How can I learn more? Contact Scott Hagler, by emailing scott.hagler@scouting.org

Help Fund Scouting Adventures!
In order for your Scouts to enjoy outdoor adventures your unit may need to fundraise to help each Scout afford them. The Indian Waters Council sponsors two major sales to help support unit fundraising.
Adventure Cards are currently available which is a great way to raise money for Scouts to go to Summer Camps. The Fall Popcorn Sale will kick off later this Summer. Both sales are great ways for units to fund the adventures their Scouts are looking for. A great benefit of participating in Council sponsored sales is that you don't have to front any money to get started. If you are looking for information on how to participate in Council sales, contact your District Scouting Professional to get started or Scott Hager at scott.hagler@scouting.org .
