Peace Light from Bethlehem makes its way to Florence and Columbia Scout Offices
The Peace Light is a continuous flame originating in the grotto of Jesus' birth in Bethlehem. It is shared person-to-person throughout the world with a message of peace and friendship.

Council Awards Reception & Ceremony
Join us at the USC-Sumter Campus (Nettles Auditorium) on Sunday, February 25, 2024, 3:30 PM for the Indian Waters Council's Annual Awards Reception & Ceremony.
We will present the Silver Beaver Award (the highest volunteer honor at the council level), the BSA Alumnus of the Year, the Eagle Project of the Year, and many others. We will also recognize our 2023 Class of Eagle Scouts! Register here for the event.

2023 Eagle Scouts to Be Recognized
All who achieve Scouting's highest honor in our council in 2023 are encouraged to attend the Annual Awards Reception & Ceremony (noted above) on February 25th as our guest! Sponsorships are also encouraged for those who wish to support an Eagle Scout.

Eagle Scout Dignitaries to Host
January 27th Law Day
On January 27th at the Lexington County Judicial Center, Eagle Scout Sheriff Jay Koon will host Law Day with some amazing guest instructors of Law Merit Badge, including South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster and prominent Eagle Scouts: Attorney General Alan Wilson, Senate Minority Leader Brad Hutto, and Senior Federal Judge Joe Anderson. Scouts will participate in activities such as mock trials, panel discussions, and law enforcement exhibits while earning Law Merit Badge. This incredible event is limited to 120 Scouts BSA youth.

Polar Explorer to Give Keynote at
FOS Dinner on January 24th in Columbia
On Wednesday, January 24th at 6:00 pm, we celebrate Scouting in the Midlands with a special Friends of Scouting Dinner at Senate's End in Columbia! Join us as Polar Explorer and Eagle Scout Aaron Linsdau shares his adventures from around the world and how Scouting prepared him for them. Admission is free and donations will be accepted to help meet Scouting's strong membership resurgence in our area.

Sumter Explorers Show-off Their Skills!
Members of Sumter Fire Rescue Explorer Post 325 recently
took 3rd Place at the Midnight Fire Relay and 2nd Place in
the Individual "Gearing-Up" Competition! The event
occurred on October 21 at Harleyville Town Park in
Dorchester County.

Camp Coker BBQ on January 27th
The Camp Coker Revitalization Task Force will host a BBQ Lunch at Camp Coker on January 27 from Noon - 2 pm. They will present the plans for Coker, ask for input, and describe how you can get involved. There are opportunities for volunteers with Program and Camp projects, as well as for vendors and contractors.
