Over the last year, we’ve rolled up our sleeves to make Scouting a more exciting, efficient, supportive and overall engaging experience for our cross-Canada community, and guess what?
It’s working.
Youth are leaping into more adventures than ever before with updates to our
Adventure Standards
, and
third-party waivers
now allowing parents to sign on behalf of themselves and their youth. These changes make it even easier for Groups to dive into experiences that only Scouting can offer: once-in-a-lifetime excursions, challenges, triumphs and journeys with friends.
In addition to removing paper processes that can weigh down a Group’s ability to plan adventures, our new approach to nurturing Group Health has allowed Scouters and Groups Commissioners to receive the support they need to facilitate quality programming. With our new Group Commissioner Orientation program, participants have already welcomed an impressive 1,240 more youth into their Groups. And did we mention the program is less than a year old? While we recognize that the Group Support Model continues to evolve, we are encouraged by the outcomes it has delivered so far. With digital support offered through our Group Support Centre, Groups that struggled last year with a decline in membership have already retained more youth in the current Scouting Year. Larger and stronger Groups mean more opportunities for youth, more adventures with peers and good times that roll throughout the year.
Since the 2019-2020 Scouting Year kicked off, more than a quarter of our Groups have expanded so far, and 210 Groups have already blown passed a 10% increase in membership! On top of new youth that the Scouting community has welcomed this year so far, more youth returned this fall to experience another round of Scouting with their friends.
A new year brings a new wave of potential. Together, we can continue to grow and enjoy the Scouting journey together.

Ride the Tidal Power in the Summer of 2020 at the Atlantic Jamboree

The Atlantic Canada Councils will be greeting the world with the very first Atlantic Jamboree next summer from July 11 to 18, 2020! Experience Canada’s east coast at beautiful Camp Nedooae on Brown Lake, Nova Scotia. This 107-hectare site is home to numerous hiking and biking trails, and a climbing and repelling tower. Brown Lake will host paddling and other water-based activities.
