Pinewood Derby Championship
Scouts takeover "Crossroads of the World"

On June 27th, the 1st Annual World Championship Pinewood Derby brought GNYC Cub Scouts together with fellow Cubs from around the country to compete for "World Champ" bragging rights. Nearly 700 Scouters gathered at the Crossroads of the World from states as far away as Tennessee, Maine, Arizona and California.

Scouters enjoyed a day of Pinewood racing, received giveaways and were entertained by the USO Show Troupe and a magician. Some Pinewood Champions also got the opportunity to get showcased on nationally televised  Fox & Friends. It was truly an amazing experience for local and visiting Scouts alike.

Scouts have a WILD time at our zoo Day Camps

This summer, GNYC introduced Day Camps across the boroughs. Working with the Wildlife Conservation Society, "Scouting Adventures" was held in four borough zoos for a week each in July - with roughly 100 Scouts total!  The Scouts had a great time learning about the animals, conservation, and so much more. We thank everyone who volunteered for the weeks and are already looking forward to next year! Don't miss out: check out our other camping opportunities.
Historical Trails Challenge with Troop 777
Big Apple District's Troop 777 has made great strides with a  focus on Personal Fitness. The Troop's 11 year old Scouts have had quite a year of hiking that included  the 'Shore Trail'  and 'Long Path' of the Palisades Historic Trail of NNJC , and  earning recognition with a patch and medal.  Next, they complete d the 'Revolutionary War Historical Trail' and soon, they will bring their  hikes to completion by tackling the 'Old New York Historical Trail' - a vis i on of the Kintecoying Lodge 4 representing the Greater New York Council and earning two patches.  Troop 777 continues to encourage Personal Fitness and learn Citizenship as all trails provide education of the American Revolutionary War. It takes great Leadership to do great things and now our Scouts of Troop 777 challenge YOU !  Check out Historical Trails or contact Jamil A.  or at 917-575-5305.
