CLIMBING
Young people today seek greater challenges, and climbing and rappelling offers a worthy challenge. While the Climbing merit badge spurs interest in these activities, the proliferation of climbing gyms and facilities has also made climbing and rappelling readily available. Knowing and following the BSA’s guidance will help units execute a fun and safe activity for all.

A Magical Day at Alpine Scout Camp
On Saturday, October 21 Alpine Scout Camp was brimming with excitement as it hosted the Fall Cub Activity Day. This wasn't just any event; it was the biggest activity this year with over 536 participants!
Youth were engaged in a variety of camp favorites such as archery, BB gun shooting, hayrides, and carnival-style games. The mood was set just right with an enticing lunch, creating the perfect backdrop for a day of fun and laughter. While the morning began on a rainy note, as the day unfolded more and more families filled the grounds, proving that a little rain couldn't dampen the spirit of attendees.
Adding a touch of enchantment to the day, the event carried a theme reminiscent of the beloved "Harry Potter". The sight of young wizards running around camp practicing their favorite spells was truly heartwarming. And of course, our camp staff, dressing as iconic characters from the series, added a special charm to the day.
We can't conclude this feature without expressing our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who played a role in making the event successful. Your efforts were the real magic behind the day!

EXPLORING POST SPOTLIGHT:
Highlighting the Journey to Leadership
Exploring is a path to discovery, leadership, and community involvement. Our unique non-traditional program has touched many lives, and this month, we cast a light on a distinctive achievement from Post 2910 and Post 4800 in the Bronx.
A Glimpse Into Our Ranking System:
Law Enforcement Exploring has been able to provide the youth with many unique experiences, allowing them to dive into their interest within a future career in Law Enforcement.
Moment of Pride:
On September 27, an uplifting promotional ceremony took place, where several of our talented explorers were promoted to the rank of Corporal. The promotion not only recognizes their hard work but also makes them eligible to take their Sergeant exam for further promotions. The photo shown here captures the essence of our Law Enforcement Exploring Program. The pride in a mother's eye as she watches her son, Jayden Rosario, receive this honor, speaks volumes.
Join us in celebrating this exemplary explorer, now know as Corporal Rosario. Congratulations!
Exploring serves two different age groups, both coed. Exploring clubs serve middle schoolers, aged 10 – 14, in sixth through eighth grades. Exploring posts serve older youth 14 – 20 years old.
At the heart of New York City's public schools lies an enriching after-school initiative, called ScoutReach.
This program serves as a window of opportunity, granting children who might not typically get a chance, a taste of Scouting.
Bridge the Gap with Troops:
We're particularly proud of our fifth graders! As they soak in the Cub Scouts experience, our ultimate goal is to ensure a smooth crossover into Scouts BSA Troops.
(Boys and Girls)
If Troop leaders are interested in partnering with a ScoutReach unit in their neighborhood, we encourage collaboration. Let's strengthen our scouting community by bridging the gap.
Take a Hike with us:
One of our exhilarating adventure awaits: scheduled for Saturday, November 4 2023.
*This event is open and available to all scouts not just ScoutReach units.
