This Weekend Is Loaded With Auctions
Not since the junk wax days of the late 1980s have I considered myself a baseball card collector. But on the way home from the beach yesterday I caught up on some episodes of an extraordinary YouTube channel called Chasing Cardboard. This video especially of them going to visit a family in WV to help them deal with a massive vintage card collection sounded so familiar to me.
In the video the family shares lots of stories about their loved on who assembled the collection. Some of the memories include how they were along for the adventure helping him at yard sales, card shows etc to build the collection. In my mind I could just as easily subbed in Scouting memorabilia for the cards and it would have been the same script. We all love the thrill of the hunt more than looking at cloth in a notebook.
Especially since I just finished driving thousands of miles to go get a similar collection of Boy Scout stuff. Now the collection I went to get didn't have any 1952 Mantles in there but I'm sure the collector shared that same passion. I can't come close to the video editing and production quality those guys put into their videos. But hopefully this week I'll have my picking trip video out.
On eBay I have 93 auctions running. Being gone during the summer has put a hit on my listing calendar. I am home all this week so I hope to make some progress getting new items listed.
I have a family stopping by at 8 AM Monday morning as they are passing through from the Northeast to Florida. I have a clue about what they are bringing but they kept finding boxes so who knows. This sure beats getting on an airplane to go get stuff.
