Vintage eBay Scout Auctions This Weekend

If you have not watched the video of Harold interviewing Paul Myers at the NSM then you are in for a treat. Not only because the "Magnificent Cloth" is such a cool piece...but also because Paul entertains us with all the stories that go with it. I got to see this piece up close at the Easley TOR in January as Russell Smart had just taken possession of it. Serving as the Chairman of the museum so to speak he worked to get just the right display built to highlight this snapshot of 1918 memorabilia.

Boy Scout Memorabilia Auctions on eBay

I caught what Paul said at the end about the possibility of donating more items to the museum. But I want to make sure that all of you know Paul has spent ALOT of his own money building Scouting memorabilia history websites for the hobby. I know he just made one for knives and his one for National Jamborees is a fantastic reference. This is what collectors of any age need - the story of the insignia presented online in an appealing way that is free and very thorough.

For my part I have a ton of eBay auctions running featuring some really nice neckerchiefs, SAPs and OA issues. Many of these neckerchiefs came from a collection which I was very happy to land. The unboxing video for it will be in Sunday's Hot Finds.

I know in the 1990s there were a flurry of reference books for the hobby but that slowed down early in the 2000s. But really in the last ten years we have had some great work published. If you have never seen the books by Dr. J. Michael Clinch on BSA Council and OA mergers it's a masterpiece in color. Mitch Reis updated his book in that span and even just last year Joe Taylor published a book on WAB issues. All of this hard work helps to keep the hobby alive even as there are so many things working against us in today's society. Keep the faith my brothers and sisters in the cloth!
