Susmita Pati, MD, MPH, Children and Screens' newest member of its National Scientific Advisory Board, recently explained what motivated her to join Children and Screens, and the work that lies ahead to address the negative effects of digital media on youth while setting them up for future success.


Dr. Pati noted the importance of teaching youth the critical thinking skills needed "to navigate the digital world in a way that will keep them happy and safe." She emphasized the importance of coordinating these efforts in partnership with schools and educators, and supports starting this education as early as possible.


She also shared her thoughts on lessons learned throughout her career and provided advice for those considering a career in pediatrics or adjacent fields. She emphasized the importance of teamwork and communication, both in her own work and beyond.
