Growing Up In Science
Growing up in science is a conversation series that is not about science, but about becoming and being a scientist. At each event, a guest speaker shares their life story, with a focus on struggles, failures, doubts, detours, and weaknesses.

Common topics include dealing with expectations (your own and others), impostor syndrome, procrastination, the role of luck, rejection, and conflicts with advisors, but these topics are always embedded in the speaker's broader narrative.
For more info on the series origination, see .

June is LGBTQIA+ Pride Month
We are here for you. Wherever you are, whatever school, family, friends and work look like for you now, we are here for you.  Our LGBTQIA+ community, especially our newest and youngest members, have been accessing LGBTQIA+ support online since the beginning. In this digital age, everyone has forays into social media. Stories abound of how media has impacted us and helped us understand ourselves. We share early videos, online chat spaces, gaming spaces and other digital ways that helped us survive, thrive and discover who we were before we ever stepped in a Center, before we ever had in-person conversation with a member of our LGBTQIA+ family.

Feeling Fragile?
A crisis turns a penetrating light on the fragility of a society. The pandemic pandemonium caused by COVID-19 has revealed cracks in the global economy, globalization strategies and inequality. Life under lockdown, going viral and virtual, has revealed that these are not the only cracks lurking in our future.

We will learn a lot from COVID-19 about our world, about failed policies and future prospects, perhaps converting doom sayers into prophets of possibility -- as we carefully probe FRAGILITY.
