Scripps National Spelling Bee - Pranav Kollu
For the second consecutive year, Pranav Kollu from Cambridge Lakes Charter School in District 300 represented Kane County in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. Pranav and his family, sponsored by the  Kane Excellence in Education Partnership  and the  Kane County Cougars , traveled to Washington, D.C., where he competed against 565 students from around the United States for the crown of the 92nd National Spelling Bee Champion from May 28 through May 30.

The Progress Report: Stop the Madness
This week's post in The Progress Report writes about the format of meetings within education and how we can better communicate the information rather than a formal sit-down meeting. In addition, through Illinois Online Academy, she shares a new online AA#1815 on how to plan effective meetings. All part of a new "on-demand" way to participate in online Administrator Academies!

The Progress Report is a collaborative discussion space for professional learning. If there are any topics that you would like to see a post on or guest write yourself,  please contact Katie Algrim.

With more than 1000 government, non-profit, and faith-based organizations providing much needed services throughout Kane County, it can be overwhelming and confusing to know who does what and exactly where to start to get help needed. 2-1-1 is a free, centralized, anonymous place to start with a specialist on hand to help sort out the options. No computer or internet is required, translation is available in over 150 languages and callers of all ages can use this service as often as needed.

Teachers & Students - Make The Most of Summer
Now that summer has commenced and the school year has completed – what's next? Katie Algrim, our Director of Professional Development, wrote a blog article a few weeks back titled ' Summer Slide ' that talked about keeping your mind fresh and testing yourself through the summer until the next school year.

We thought it would be beneficial to offer a few summer reads for students and teachers. Find the International Literacy Association's annual recommendations for children, young adults and teachers.
