Sea King Sunday Update

Dear Sea King Families,

What an incredible Homecoming week! It was truly an epic week for our PVHS students and the entire community.  As we celebrated 60 years of Sea Kings, our football team played their first-ever Friday night game under the lights with a packed crowd.  There was an electric feeling amongst our largest-ever student section, led by their Red Tide Captains. The crowd was on fire as they cheered and sang along to the DJ. Check out this amazing video of our Sea King students, alumni, and parents swaying and singing along to Dancing Queen!  Just one of the many moments this week that made me so proud to be the principal of PVHS!

A week like this only happens with the hard work and support of many people!  Our appreciation goes out to the following:

Superintendent, Dr. Alex Cherniss and the District Administration

PVPUSD School Board

PVE City Council

PVE Police Department

PVE Community

PVHS Booster Club

PVHS PTSA

PVHS Football, Cheer, Song, and Band

PVHS ASB, BTC, and Red Tide

A special thank you to the PVHS faculty and staff for their work and support at our various homecoming events this week.  And finally, this week would not have happened without the dedication and hard work from our phenomenal Activities Director, Jama Maxfield and Athletic Director, Brian Shapiro. Our Sea King family is second to none!

Have a great week everyone!

Sincerely,

Dr. Trista Ramirez

PVHS Principal

Friday Night Lights

For the first time in its history as a school, Palos Verdes High School hosted a night home football game. The special event celebrated the 60th anniversary of the opening of Palos Verdes High School and the 20th anniversary of the school's reopening as a High School in 2002. In front of a capacity crowd at Sea King Stadium, the Sea Kings defeated the Santa Monica Vikings 54-0. Students dressed in a neon theme and showed incredible school spirit throughout the game. Homecoming court winners were announced at halftime and participated in a homecoming car parade around the stadium. It was truly an incredible night.

Congratulations to our homecoming court winners:

Freshman Court winners: Bella Sachar & Roko Albano

Sophomore Court Winners: Lucienne Jassy & Nate Friedman

Junior Court winners: Maximillian Behzad-Asiri & Jada Durroh

Senior Court Winners: Peter Kraemer & Sharlize Moayedi

Homecoming Dance

Saturday Night PVHS Hosted the Homecoming Dance in Senior Park. IT was a 70's theme event and over 900 students attended and had fun dancing, playing games, taking photos in the photo booth, and getting airbrush tattoos. It was an amazing way to cap off an unforgettable Homecoming Weekend!

Community Clean-Up Day

After our Friday night football game, our Palos Verdes High School students were up early and back at school on Saturday morning for our Community Clean-up day.  Students volunteered to clean up the surrounding neighborhood around the school.  This was an excellent opportunity for our school to give back to our neighbors for supporting our homecoming weekend.

Senior PVHS pianist Patrick Hwang competed at the Southern CA Bach Piano Festival Complete Works Competition this past weekend at CA State Long Beach. He was awarded the silver medal for the Italian Concerto Category. Patrick Hwang is a member of the PVHS Advanced Orchestra and Tri-M Music Honor Society.

Congratulations Patrick!

PVHS Wellness Class

After learning about stress management, students in the wellness course created posters to educate their peers.   These posters have been hung around campus to share tips and techniques with our Sea King community.
