Sea King Sunday Update

Dear Sea King Families,

Congratulations to all of our AP students who wrapped up their final AP exams this week. We are so proud of our students and their dedication to their academic success! A special thank you to our AP teachers who worked diligently to support our kids in preparation for these exams. Our teachers held special study sessions, offered extra opportunities for test prep, and provided before-exam snacks and breakfast! We have a week off from testing and then we head into Math CAASPP testing for our juniors the week of May 22nd. Let's keep up the good work and finish strong Kings!

Our Be The Change leadership class celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week this week with treats and small tokens of appreciation for our teachers. Every day, I am amazed by the energy and commitment our teachers give to their students. We are so lucky to have faculty and staff that are passionate and dedicated to making our school community the best it can be.

On this Mother's Day, I would like to take a moment today to recognize all of our Sea King Moms. Thank you for your amazing dedication to your kids and through that, also supporting our school community. I hope you are spending the day relaxing and being pampered by your families!

This Sunday, let's remember to show our appreciation and gratitude to those who impact our lives each and every day, our moms and our teachers! Have a wonderful day and we will see you tomorrow!

Sincerely,

Dr. Trista Ramirez

Principal

PVIT Underwater ROV Team Advances to MATE World Championships!

A HUGE Congratulations to the PVIT Underwater ROV team for Winning the MATE Regional Competition for underwater robotics!

This team’s long history of success for the last 15 years has helped to build strong engineering practices, resulting in the lightest, fastest ROV that the team has ever produced. Putting in long hours, including late night practices at the pool, helped the team to win Regionals which qualifies them to compete at MATE World Championships in Colorado in June. Wow!

A very special thanks to the team's amazing mentors and to Ms. Patty Camp for their tireless support of the team.

Photography and Art Students get Inspired in Downtown LA

PVHS Photography & Drawing students took a field trip to Downtown Los Angeles & the LA Zoo this week for an opportunity to take pictures of new environments and draw some unique animals and plants. The students had a wonderful time and produced some tremendous artwork. Ms. Jiminez and her students will be producing posters to decorate the school as we get closer to hosting graduation celebrations on campus.

A huge thanks to Mrs. Jiminez for planning so many field trips like these to expose our students to new inspiration and hone their art skills!

Congratulations to California Educational Theatre Association (CETA) Scholarship winners Caiden Falstrup-Finney (Acting) and Scarlet Bailey (Technical Theater).

Both of you have made such a tremendous impact at PVHS through your artistic talents and we are all incredibly proud of you both!

State and AP Testing in April and May

The testing season is upon us! Our Juniors will be participating in state testing in Science, English, and Math and our AP students of all grades will participate in their subject area AP tests. The full testing schedule is below for your reference.

The State of California assesses schools by testing 11th-grade students in Science, English, and Math. A school's scores on these tests are a major factor in determining a school's ranking, which some colleges look at when they are considering students for admission. Thus, a strong performance on the SBAC ELA, Math, and CAST Tests is absolutely pivotal in keeping our California school ranking strong and giving our students the best chance with admission at the top colleges and universities.

Please join PVHS Staff in encouraging our students to prepare and do their best on these upcoming tests and to Go for the Green, the highest school ranking a school can achieve on the CAASPP tests.

For information on opting out of state tests for 11th-grade students,
