Sea Pines CSA Tropical Storm Debby Update

Tuesday, August 6, 2024, 1:00 PM Update

Our area remains under the following watches and warnings: Tropical Storm Warning, Storm Surge Warning, Flash Flood Warning, and Flood Watch.

The National Weather Service continues to forecast potentially historic rainfall and flooding through at least Friday morning. Tropical Storm Debby is a slow-moving storm with water being the main concern with rainfall, storm surge, and flooding.

The Sea Pines CSA Maintenance storm team (pictured below) is continuously patrolling the community clearing stormwater drainage structures and removing downed trees and debris from roadways. They will remain onsite throughout the duration of the storm to assist with mechanical pumping of critical storm water areas and respond to storm-related events.

Clearing debris out of the Lawton Pump Station screens early Tuesday morning.

Fallen tree cleared from roadway near Baynard Cove Road and Old Military Road.

Clearing obstruction from stormwater drain on Green Heron Road.

  • Stormwater Management: To proactively address the possibility of heavy rainfall, our team has placed 5 large portable high-volume dewatering pumps in strategic locations throughout the community to assist in lowering lagoon levels.
  • They will continue to actively monitor the tidal control structures on our lagoon system to prevent as much tidal inflow as possible. Additionally, they are actively managing the Lawton Canal pump station to move water out of the community.
