As warmer weather brings more joggers, cyclists, and walkers out to the leisure trails, it's a great time to share a few important reminders, especially if you have guests visiting or renters staying at your property this summer. Please pass these guidelines along so everyone can enjoy the trails safely:
-
Stay to the right. Keep to the right side of the trail and ride or walk in single file to allow others to pass.
-
Pedestrians have the right of way on the trails. Cyclists should announce "Passing on left" before passing walkers. Pedestrians should keep the volume of headphones low enough to hear approaching bicycles.
-
Stop at every leisure trail stop sign. Vehicles are not required to stop for trail users waiting to cross a roadway. Always come to a full stop before crossing.
-
Keep a safe speed, and no motorized vehicles. This includes e-bikes and scooters.
-
Use the trail, not the road. Where a leisure trail exists, use of the roadway is prohibited.
