It's Sea Turtle Season! Please Remember the Rules!

As of July 11th, there have been 171 nests laid, 117 false crawls, and 2 hatched nests recorded on Hilton Head Island by the Sea Turtle Patrol. Please keep these tips in mind to help ensure successful hatching and the journey to the ocean:

  • Fill holes and flatten sand castles before leaving the beach.
  • Remove obstacles including beach equipment and trash.
  • Only use red flashlights on the beach.
  • Never disturb a sea turtle nest, a nesting sea turtle or a hatchling.
  • If your building is visible from the beach, turn off your outside lights at 10 pm.
