City of Rosenberg News Release

Seabourne Creek Nature Park Named Top Ten Finalist in $75k Grant Contest

The City of Rosenberg is excited to announce that Seabourne Creek Nature Park, located at 3831 Highway 36 S, has been named a top ten national finalist in the 2022 Niagara Perk Your Park Contest from Niagara water, through its charitable program, Niagara Cares, in partnership with National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA).

The Perk Your Park Contest is part of the Niagara Perk Your Park Project, an initiative that focuses on park and community space revitalization across the country. Three winners will be chosen to receive a $75,000 grant for a park upgrade by popular vote. Voting starts August 1, at NiagaraPerkYourPark.com. Vote for your park once daily until the polls close September 12, 2022.

If Rosenberg were to win, improvements would be made to transform approximately 6 acres of empty space with native trees, an arboretum, new crushed granite paths and picnic tables to be nestled along the paths and under the tree canopy. The park enhancement would provide families and park visitors with an educational and fun outdoor environment where they can experience nature in a shaded picnic setting.

Seabourne Creek Nature Park is an expansive 164-acre park with stocked ponds, a butterfly garden, prairie restoration areas, green space, trails, wetlands, a gazebo, restroom facilities and is known locally as the perfect spot for bird watching!
