Dear Members of the Gould Community,
As the school year ends and summer begins, the Head of School Search Committee would like to share some thoughts with the Gould community about our continuing work.
The search committee, in conjunction with our consultants from RG 175, will be hard at work over the next few months. Ever since the posting of the HOS position at the beginning of April, there has been a great deal of interest in this opportunity. Gould and its spectacular location have been a draw for prospective candidates.
RG 175 has already received a number of completed applications even though the application period doesn’t close until the end of June. Based on these applications and numerous other conversations with possible applicants, RG 175 is optimistic that our candidate pool will feature many highly qualified people with relevant experience in both boarding schools and experiential education.
Once the application period closes, the search committee will begin reviewing applications. This includes vetting all candidates and thinking carefully about how each applicant’s strengths match up with the skills specified in our
Head of School Position Statement
as well as their ability to meet the future challenges faced by the school. Working closely with RG 175, the search committee will choose a number of semi-finalist candidates to be interviewed in August.
At the completion of the semi-finalist interviews, the committee will select the finalists. Each finalist will come to Gould in September for three days to meet with the Gould community. This will be your opportunity to meet with the finalists as well as to complete a survey sharing your thoughts with the search committee.
We hope everyone has an enjoyable summer and the chance to spend time with family and friends. We would like to thank all of you for your continued support of Gould and the many great programs offered by the school. We especially want to thank the faculty and staff for their work with and support of the students over the past school year.
would also like to thank Chris Gorycki for his work as interim Head of School during this time of transition. Once a new Head of School has been chosen, a transition team, along with Chris, will help get our next Head ready to start on July 1, 2020.
