Standing Committee Updates on the

Search and Transition Committees

Dear Diocese of Florida,

We are writing to share two important updates regarding the Search and Transition Committees as we continue preparing to welcome our next bishop.

Search Committee Slate

First, we are pleased to announce the slate of clergy and laity who will serve on the Search Committee. The Standing Committee engaged in a thoughtful and prayerful process to determine this group, reviewing each of the 39 nominations received.

Every nomination was carefully considered in light of the Gifts & Skills document to ensure the final slate reflects the heart, diversity, and spiritual depth of our diocesan community. We are deeply grateful to all who took the time to submit a nomination.

Transition Committee Update

Second, we did not receive enough applications for the Transition Committee. As a result, we will be reopening nominations and have reactivated the nomination form.

The Transition Committee will be responsible for much of the planning that occurs before and after the bishop candidate slate is announced. Once the slate is published, this committee will take over key responsibilities from the Search Committee.

Their responsibilities include welcoming and hosting candidates, facilitating diocesan-wide discernment and learning opportunities, celebrating the Standing Committee’s work from November 2023 to the present, and assisting with both the electing convention and the ordination of the new Bishop Diocesan.

If you feel called to be part of something transformative, we warmly encourage you to submit a nomination. This is your chance to serve the diocese in a way that is deeply impactful, and filled with joy and hope for what lies ahead.
