New execution plan allows IDOC to access central vein, without in-person witnesses

A central vein is a major vein in the body, usually in the chest, neck or groin. Execution witnesses will see a live audio and video feed of the execution preparation room where IVs are inserted, rather than witnessing it through glass as prior executions allowed.

Ninth Circuit sides with Thomas Creech same day Idaho issues death warrant

The appellate court’s decision revolves around whether U.S. District Judge Amanda Brailsford should have recused herself from a February complaint due to her relationship with Ada County Prosecutor Jan Bennetts. The decision from the appellate court does not stop the scheduled execution on Nov. 13, but it could make it easier for Creech’s counsel to file a new request for a stay of execution.

State public defender fills most vacant positions

The new State Public Defender's Office said in early August about 77% of SPD employees would receive a salary increase, 7% of salaries would remain the same, and 15% of employees would see a decrease from their existing county pay rate.
