Wednesday, September 3 @ 10:00 am – 2:00 pm: Water and Wilderness Worship and Seminar
- A time of worship and learning led by Father Pete Nunnally, the Wilderness Priest, at Camp Chestnut Ridge.
- Pete is an Episcopal priest and founder of Water and Wilderness Church, a fully outdoor, nature-based church community near DC.
- After worship, we’ll have lunch (included in registration fee) and there will be time for questions and discussion.

- Presenters from Bluestem Conservation Cemetery, located north of Hillsborough, will talk about the ecological, conservation, and climate impacts of their innovative project and how Bluestem connects to community and faith while renewing historic burial practices.

- Learn about why and how to choose native plants, remove non-native invasive species, and create healthier wildlife habitats, so that we can help restore harmony with God’s creation.
- Learn also about a related resolution that was passed at the UMC General Conference in May 2024.

Thursday, September 18 @ 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm: Eco-Mission: Serving All Creation
- Genesis 2:15 reads, “The Lord God put the man in the Garden of Eden to take care of it and to look after it.” What might this kind of stewardship look like?
- What if we went on a mission trip that focused on serving God’s creation through restoring ecosystems? What difference would it make to bring health back to wetlands, streambeds, forests, and other natural areas?
- Join us to consider how our church might be part of taking care of creation for the good of all life.

Saturday September 20, 9:30-12:30: Mt. Tirzah FIELD TRIP!
- Meet at the church at 9:30.
- We'll take the van over to the Person County Harvest Market at Palace Pointe to purchase fresh, locally grown produce and artisanal goods, and to enjoy some family activities and live music.
- Then we'll head over to Susan and Patrick's house for a brief tour of their Certified Wildlife Habitat, solar installation, and registered Monarch Waystation.
- Cookies and lemonade provided during the tour!
- RSVP by telling Susan if you plan to come so she can bake enough cookies.
Thursday, September 25 @ 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm: Climate Change and Health: Keeping Our Families and Communities Safe
- Learn about how extreme weather and shifting weather patterns affect lives and health in North Carolina, along with some realistic and practical ways that communities, families, and individuals can protect their own health and that of others in our local communities and state.

Sunday, October 5, 10:00am onward: St. Francis Sunday and Blessing of the Animals and Land, followed by a Covered Dish Feast:
- 10:00 Sunday School, 11:00 Worship, 12:00 Feast.
- Bring a photo or memento of your favorite animal or something from your land/yard for Pastor Rod to bless during worship.
- Everyone is invited to prepare a dish to share at the Covered Dish Feast after Worship. (Consider making something using local produce or locally-sourced meat!)
- During lunch, Susan will briefly share about her Earthkeepers project and the important role that Mt. Tirzah UMC will play in it.
