December is Seasonal Depression Awareness Month

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is a form of depression that is connected to changes of season. SAD tends to appear and dissipate at about the same times every year. Typically, symptoms start in the fall and continue into the winter months.

People with SAD tend to feel a drain in energy that leads to increased moodiness. Symptoms can be resolved by the spring or early in the summer months. It is also possible for SAD to continue to linger into the following winter.

BTPD Theft Prevention Tips

This holiday season, the Bloomfield Township Police Department would like to provide some tips to get ready for the sudden influx of packages at your front door:

  • If possible, monitor your front porch with a security cam or video doorbell
  • Give the delivery service special instructions
  • Use a package delivery box or an Amazon pickup location
  • Keep tabs on your packages by signing up for email/text alerts
  • ALWAYS require a signature

Nothing worse than spending good money and being the victim of preventable theft.

Never leave items of value inside your vehicle, especially in plain sight. This can be during holiday shopping in public or in your driveway overnight. Always lock your vehicles, and never leave the keys inside.

And if you are planning on going away during this holiday season or in the future, please make sure to complete a Vacation Notification so that BTPD officers can periodically check in on the exterior of your residence.

Any non-emergency questions? Please call 248-433-7755.

Let’s be merry and vigilant this holiday season.
