Updates from the Garden

As the year comes to a close, we are taking stock of all we have accomplished in 2024. It's been a year of growth, community building, and making a real impact. We are proud of our achievements and grateful for the support of our community. Here's to a strong finish to the year and exciting 2025 goals.

During our November #GivingTuesday campaign, we exceeded our goal!! Thank you to everyone who donated, shared, or signed up as a volunteer during the campaign. All donations support our mission to grow connection and resiliency through neighborhood gardens!

In November, we hosted 138 volunteer hours in the gardens. Volunteers helped us to clean up the gardens before winter and prepare native planting areas.

Even with the cold and windy weather settling in, we were able to get some fresh, local food out to the community. In November, we distributed 397 pounds of food.

We hosted 60+ guests from the Nevada Association of Conservation Districts for a tour of our garden. Our garden manager, Sage, had the wonderful opportunity to showcase our regenerative agriculture practices during their annual meeting. It's always exciting to share our efforts and learnings with such a passionate group. Here's to fostering more connections and spreading the knowledge of sustainable gardening practices!

We successfully hosted our first two Same Day Work and Pay Days, resulting in 45 hours of paid work. The participants helped to established our new orchard site at CARE Chest and helped complete various other garden jobs.
