Since Barakat started work in 1994, first in Pakistan and then Afghanistan, we have educated 71,000 students (boys, girls and women) right through 2019.
As of this year, the six schools in Pakistan enrolled 1,383 students with 673 girls and 710 boys, of which 343 girls are at the Girls’ Evening School program.
In Afghanistan the local Turkmen businessmen who are from Faryab and Jowzjan provinces (where the two Barakat schools are located) are beginning to pick up the job of monitoring and funding of the Barakat schools.
This ensures one of Barakat’s long-term objectives: That of involving the local community in the continued operation of both Barakat Afghanistan schools.
