This Giving Tuesday was a success! We are grateful for all our supporters and their generous contributions. Together, we raised over $20,500 to fuel our mission of saving lives. Special thanks to KID board members Dawn and Shawn Kasserman whose $10,000 donation match added an extra layer of impact. Thank you to all those that donated for being an integral part of our success! Giving Tuesday is just the start of our heartfelt appeal for support that extends throughout the end of the year. Continue showing support for our life-saving mission through the end of this year as we commemorate Danny Keysar's birthday on December 31 and help KID continue his legacy. Make a donation today and consider adding $25 to your gift in honor of KID's 25th anniversary.
Unbox Joy, Not Hazards
This holiday season, gift-givers are always eager to find the best presents and deals, but you should also keep safety in mind when shopping. While browsing, check for age-appropriate labels on products. Stay informed about recalls and check products on the CPSC recalls page. Read KID's tips on how to shop safely and what to look out for in our blog. Last month, Nancy Cowles and Dev Gowda, took part in separate press conferences to release PIRG's annual Trouble In Toyland report. The report details some emerging hazards in toys such as water beads, counterfeits, and recalled toys still for sale online. For more info on what toys to avoid this season, watch the full press conference here.
Ice, Ice, Safety: Winter Must-Knows
Despite a warm fall here in Chicago, winter is now approaching and we can’t let our guard down! Have fun and stay safe with these safety tips.
Don’t overdress your baby. Babies are susceptible to overheating which has been linked to SUID.
When buckling a child into a car seat, puffy coats compress on impact leaving too much space between a child’s body and the car seat harness. Instead, buckle your child in snuggly, and place the jacket on top of the child to keep them warm.
Remove drawstrings from jackets or hoodies because they can pose a strangulation hazard. It is illegal for children’s outerwear to have drawstring due to the dangers so please remove any drawstrings and report any product that does not comply at SaferProducts.gov.

CPSC Warns Against Miracle Baby Loungers
The CPSC issued a warning to immediately stop using Miracle Baby Loungers due to suffocation risk and fall hazard. This product failed to meet the safety requirements of CPSC’s Infant Sleep Products Rule because it does not have a stand and fails to meet the rule's marking, labeling, and instructional literature requirements. The CPSC issued a notice of violation to the seller, Yichang Lanqier Garment Co. Ltd. doing business as Miracle Baby, but the firm has not agreed to recall these loungers or offer a remedy to consumers. These loungers were sold online at Amazon.com between June and November 2022.
