| | Heather McQueen - she/her - Heather made Pueblo home in 2017 after spending time in upstate New York and being raised outside Kansas City, MO. She says, “Pueblo has been very good to me. I’m happy to be a part of such a diverse community.” Heather’s hobbies outside of work include theater, dance, attending weekly karaoke nights and one day she hopes to do some traveling but will likely always call Pueblo home. When asked about what recovery means to her, she says, “Recovery is a conscious choice. It requires prioritizing taking care of yourself, having goals even when you can’t see the finish line, and taking the steps to get you to where you want to be. It isn’t easy, things don't always fall into place but it’s always worth it.” She wants Participants to know that, “You can decide at any point to be in recovery, as many times as it takes. It’s possible and there’s a beautiful life after any crisis.” She has held her state Peer Certificate since 2018, does follow up for referrals from Parkview and community organizations, is the volunteer and community service coordinator and works mainly as an admin assistant for the Harbor.
