Days of Importance: 2022 - 2023

From Our Child and Family Program

17-year-old Ashley came to the Center with severe anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) that prevented her from consistently attending school. Her relationship with her mom was suffering as well. They were frequently arguing as Ashley didn’t know how to talk about her thoughts and feelings in a way that gave her mom an understanding of them. After working with her therapist for four months, Ashley gained the skills to express her thoughts and feelings in a way that doesn't lead to fights with her mom.

Both Ashley and her mom report that they are finally able to understand each other in a way they never have before. As a result of clearing that hurdle, Ashley is now tackling the OCD with Cognitive Behavior Therapy. Ashley is attending school regularly and is on the honor roll! She is even talking about going to college next year, something that six months ago, she never thought was possible.
